I don't have "status" with anything, but you know the one airline that was okay to deal with when shot got messed up? United, through the app, was easy to navigate, and resolve. Westjet customer service these days is nothing worth talking about. As bad as anywhere.

Got an offer from RBC to upgrade from the RBC VI Avion that I have had for many years now to the RBC VI Avion Privilege card. Upgrading comes with 25000 bonus points. Annual fee is $400 minus the small rebate as I have sig no limits banking with RBC.

Not really a strong offer IMO. What you guys think? I don't use my visa that much. Just when a place doesn't accept Amex. The thing that's really holding me back is the annual fee.

Triangle bonus day was yesterday. Somehow I earned $77 CT-Bux from purchases totaling $313. Crazy.

And, here's the bigger news for @ExtraSlow
I spoke to a Triangle Select person on the phone who confirmed that the annual 20x bonus is on your largest receipt, not your most expensive single item. So I explicitly clarified and said "So, I could buy a set of tires and a BBQ and some lawn furniture and a case of oil and that total dollar amount is what I get the 20x on??"
    And she said, YES.

There you go. I plan to celebrate by giving NegRep to that little tHaCo fuck stain and then masturbating knowing how upset it makes him. Even though he totally "doesn't care about little green bars"...

So my corporate bank (ATB) CC is kind of a lame duck in terms of rewards. And my normal accounts there no longer sync with my accounting software.
It's become a big pain in my ass for bookkeeping. They also aren't doing much in the way of giving me any kind of service to keep me around. So I want to switch banks completely

If I'm being picky, I want a bank that can sync to Xero without using that stupid Yodlee middle man.

That gives me two options: BMO and CIBC.

I spend an awful lot on my company CC, so getting rewarded for that would be nice. And I travel out of Canada at least once per year to visit clients, and more domestically, so a CC with some kind of perks there wouldn't be frowned upon.

Wondering if anyone here has experience with their products and can give some first hand advice.

Triangle MasterCard Select or whatever it's called. I got $319 in triangle bucks from an $1,870 purchase and will get another $150 later as this will most likely be my largest single purchase from CT over the year.
Just pwned the $90 annual fee or whatever it was.

    ~15% back is good.

Seems like this is a good card to have in the back pocket for any home / auto / whatever the fuck else CT carries purchases

Are you still able to pay your property taxes with the Triangle card without added fees?

Another bonus is it gives you a discount at grocery stores. I think it's not supposed to be much, but I'm fairly confident it actually gives 3% which might be an error, but suck my nuts.

Everywhere accepts amex these days. I've had an amex for work for like 7 years, and have never been turned away. Costco might be the only exception I can think of.

Anything loblaws, Costco, A&W, a lot of mom and pop shops.

And historically had a lot of issues in Europe and South America with AMEX.

You are right it is generally accepted, but there are enough holes that you will need to carry a second card for sure if AMEX is your daily.

Sorry but there are more and more places that don't accept it. My biggest pet peeve is when I ask the retailer if they take amex and they have no clue.

Why would you say sorry? I couldn’t care less about which places do or don’t take Amex.

Amex is generally accepted beside those places mentioned above, but it's enough that you can still collect pretty good points with it. The Scotia Amex is definitly our fav card with really good % back on gas, groceries, Uber, and restaurants. The no Forex Fee alone pays for the card itself and scene points are so easy to use.

You do want a back-up for places that don't accept Amex. We use the BMO World Elite, which also gives bonus points on everything else that the Scotia Amex doesn't like travels, recurring bills and non-amex accepting dining.

I travel an okay amount for work and personal (~10-12 trips/year. Mostly US). I use BMO World Elite and TD First Class. I think the BMO World Elite is the only card that gives bonus points on booking travels (beside I think the more $ amex?, and the TD). Works out to ~3% back in points, which is pretty good. Also ~2% on dining, great for those expensable work meals. The 4 lounge passes are nice bonus.

I got the TD as a back up because the BMO Travel bonus only applies to the first $15K spend in that category so I needed a way to collect travel points when I exceed. It's ~ 4% back in points if booked through their Expedia portal.
