100% fine with them seizing vehicles when you're doing stupid stuff like this. Regardless of whether or not it is their car.

Fine and a driving ban they won't adhered to is meaningless.

If your gonna go over 200 and get busted for it. You probably deserve the same fate as a drunk driver. Is there any good reasons for going 200+ on a highway full of other drivers?

LOL for how many cars and bikers that have driven well over 200km/h on this forum, there'd be millions of dollars getting taken away

I'm guessing the one who got away was capable of more then 214mh/h Or was smart and turned off before they got the 214 guy.

I doubt the highway was full of other drivers at midnight. In any case, kind of a crappy article to publish, since it makes it look like not stopping is the way to go.

Man, I was caught doing some of the speeds I have on my sportbike.... wow.

They were all on deserted highways usually in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere. 214 is kids play.

Not going to say HOW fast, but *QUITE* a bit more then that.

I agree that it's not full of other drivers. But honestly, you'd be surprised at the amount of traffic throughout the night on the QE2. I used to commute back and forth to EDTN quite often in the night, and it's surprisingly well traveled. I certainly would never do those speeds on it. Far too much other traffic, especially in the middle of the night where you're overdriving your headlights by a lot.

He must have been a real dick to the cops to get criminal dangerous driving with impound, instead of provincial speeding and maybe careless, poor bastard.

Sensational media hype to lead into the government going after personal property. Agreed on the not stopping, no chase policy should make that the easy choice.

If they kept the race short and sweet, sure. But keeping it going down the highway, Wangan Midnight style is stupidity.

That section of highway is absolutely dead past 12am, I know of a certain group of people who used to do top speed runs in that area and it wasn't uncommon to see 300kmhr. Sucks they got caught, there are lot more dangerous things going on in Red Deer that should be a focus.
