Default 99 honda civic rotor loose!

    Hey guys,

The front passenger rotor is loose! I noticed this when i was rotating my tires a few days ago. I can wiggle the rotor back and forth horizontally. This is with the brake calliper on. When i drive it, i notice the noise it makes when i make turns, especially when i do left corners. The rotor on the opposite side is solid and doesn't move at all.

Any advice, tips for do-it-yourself work. Or perhaps a recommendation to a good shop around town. Any help is much appreciate.

it's not a big deal, the wheel holds it straight when its on. The other side is probably rusted to the hub. There are screws that hold it on there but if people usually throw them out as they usually strip and are a PITA to take out.

What kind of noise does it make?

When your wheel is tightened on your rotor should not move, check to make sure it is not your wheel bearing that is done

@G-ZUS, it makes a scraping noise, like it rubbing up against the plate right behind the rotor. And i've been told that the wheel should tighten the rotor in place but the problem remains.

Maybe that plate is bent towards the rotor, ive seen it many times, bend it back a bit

Not sure if it's the same as my 91 accord, but it's got captive rotors and the rotor is NOT held on by the wheel, it's actually bolted to the back of the hub with 4 bolts... which if those were loose would likely be bad news...

like i said, i am not sur eif it's the same, i'd assume it's not, but it might be worth a look.

EDIT: nvm, just looked em up, they're not captive, they are held on by the wheel, you have nothing to worry about, the noise must be something else, or the backing plate bent like others have mentioned.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

    Default Issue resolved

I found the source of the problem. It is indeed the wheel bearing that needs to be replaced. Thanks for the help anyways guys. Much appreciated.
