I hate to tell another story, but given the topic it's something I need to get off my chest. This actually has been a huge burden for me on Beyond all these years, so I'm sick of all the insincere. this post I'm gonna give all those secrets away.

Years ago in grade school, there was this kid. Somehow he just fell through the cracks from not being a chill kid or able to interact with the rest of the kids, not to mention one of the first to sport the Bieber haircut, which was as corky 20 years ago as it is today.

Unfortuntely, things were about to get a whole lot worst for this kid. On one happy, sunny, glorious day in elementary (so I thought), none other than gym class. This kid must had decided to test his muscle contraction power or something, so he had a little incident...

Agrrrr, what the fuck, this is Beyond, we're all mature adults here... This kid shit his pants, right in the middle of gym class.

No, we didn't had no Twitter those days, didn't have no Facebook, no camera phones (still on 35mm). But y'all have no idea the traumatizing effect this particular incident created for EVERYBODY that was actually there, not only that, this would be a wide spread event to the rest of the school; and a rippling FOREVER lasting effect for this kid and anyone who was there for years to come; again without Twitter/Facebook/MySpace.

Castrated for the REST OF HIS SCHOOL career. Grade school, to high school. Being Calgary, of course majority of kids move through the same school system, but tough break on this guy, from Elem to Jr. (with new kids added), he wasn't able to spin a new image for himself/nor shake off this particular incident. from Jr. high to feeding into Calgary's 2nd largest populated High School, you'd think for sure one would be able to shake that off as well, nope. And NOPE, no help from Twitter/Facebook/CalgaryPlanet/Nexopia.

Post secondary, you'd think "shit" (pun intended) like this gets shaken off; nope. Now, I wasn't smart enough to attend UC. However, I guess one of the traits I possess is the ability to dip into all aspects of clicks during younger school years... In a way if I wanted to "feel/think" I was a loner, I truly was... cuz though I had certain traits that enable me to chill with your "gangsta, potheads, jock, Rich-bitches, nerds, gearheads", but yet I never possess anything in completion within each group to actually be welcome into any particular group... I guess that's what makes me into the person I am today, fitting into my career industry so well... Our industry I can pretty much work anywhere in the world, it's our skills that counts, but yet personality to adapt into different shops/environment is a huge key.

Anyways, back to this kid. Into post secondary, you'd think he'd have a new chance, a new life. Like I said, I'm one of those people that's just nested bits and pieces into different clicks. so in the after H.S. life, just having random catch-up sessions with members of these different clicks (the old jocks, gangster, etc...) I'm hearing sighting reports of this kid, how everyone (from old school) is horriffied of this guy, how he's turned into a MONSTER, I should watch out if I see him, he can probably beat us all up, how big and tough he is walking around UC campus, etc...

But my response was, scare of him? WTF for? I've never done "shit" (pun intended) all to this kid... In fact, as far as I understand, we got's no beef, we were even chess club buddies. I'm like YOU guys are pretty much the ones that tormented the guy for his entire school career, not me. (yes, I was guilty not fighting and throwing punches against the whole class, including chicks when everyone ragged on him; but self perversation, I'm sorry, I had my own problems)

So I'm like thinking... ummm, no'k if he's pissed at ME, sweet, cute, adorable Thomas, then bring it; come at me bra.

OK, so here's the feel-good side of this story.

This kid was always smart, and complimenting on this kids accomplishments, not sure if it's from his isolation from socializing, he accerlated to a point where he got a great paying job, apparently made a "shit-load" of money... From there, (the part where old grade school ppl were scared of his phyique) was apparently he started working out, a lot. Got himself these huge ass biceps, though forgetton to work on legs... Then he started buying himself a nice big house on an acre, then bought himself a few fancy cars, for that extra attention seeking, he's even built himself this loud ass "look at me y'all" muscle car.

He then posted his accomplishments on a car forum, which made him into a famous character on the site.

However, here's the colleratal damage; why I have monotone emotions most the time, where IMO there are no bullying or the bullied, there are no victim or the victimized... In a way, depending which angle you look through the crystal, there are no winners, there are no losers...

So you look at the kid who's pooped his pants, in the end, things didn't turn out too too bad for him. (call it his strong will, and believe me, I saw what he went through all those years, "they" raggggged on this kid); but he just rose above all odds.

Now, what about the kids whom were there witnessing this unfold, some 20 years ago.

Beyond, I will tell you how heart wrenching this is... After years later, learning this kid in the gym incident turned out to be a famous Beyond member. How torn and alone I've become being the keeper of his secret. At one point, I'm so proud of what/whom he's become spinning a new image, being someone cool to the younger Beyond faces; and trying and trying and trying to put a tight lid on this, not being a party pooper, and just never let Beyond know this.

But since the table has turned around for this guy, (not that I ever had beef with this guy, in fact it's just because I've been tramuized, otherwise I'd probably be ok hanging with him more)

Beyond doesn't know his past story, but everytime he talks about his accomplisments, TO ME... it's almost as if he's bullying ME now (again, not that I've every done anything to the guy)... now that he's probably one of the top self-made (none daddy money) guy within our age group... but here he is showing off all his toys, crib, etc... Everytime I read any of his posts, I get so torn and mad/jealous/confused inside (keeping his secret being proud that he's finally earned his fame in a niche group, but TO ME, it feels like he's taunting, targeting ME, somehow, I know he's not...) how I have to work 12-14 hour days, 6-7 day/wk just to get by. (while he doesn't guy's retired already, I wouldn't doubt if he's sitting at $$$ 8-figures networth)

However, at the other end of spectrum; even without camera phones and social networking sites to trend that incident; everytime I see this Beyonder post, the trauma never goes away. I still have a very detailed photographic recollection to this day as an adult... The little girl's name that screamed: "Ahhhhh, there's a piece of poop on the floor"... to seeing the gym/homeroom teacher trying to hold her laugher while she calls in another teacher to help wtf to do... To teachers lining the class in single file to evacuate the gym, while just like avoiding staring directly into the sun, I still have fucking Facebook-album-like ETCHED in my head: of (a) this kid's budging brown lunch through his grey Nintendo Mario brothers sweat pants, into a slow motion video of it rolling through his pant sleeve onto the gym floor. And for the finishing elementary years, having to avoid "that" particular spot on the gym, you know how many games/plays I've lost, just trying to avoid that spot... I'm pretty sure I'll still be able to point the spot out today, even without a Facebook pic of it's location (b) (while waiting in line to leave gym and kids laughing, and this kid crying), of the janitor coming in all stun, trying to figure out how he should proceed to remove this kid's brown choo-choo train.

To this day as an adult, I still cannot look at this guy in the eyes. When I see him post, I get this fear that a computized poo is going to pop-up advertising for some plumbing fixture. If I know he's going to be at a Beyond event, I try avoiding it all cost.

I'm just saying:

- It is true people can overcome their image, feelings, fear. (and to this day, I'm still working hard to "own" that incident and trying to find closure ) overcome these so called "bullying"...

- Even without social networking (Twitter/Facebook/MySpace, things trending), incidents DO have ever lasting impacts on people; it might not need to be shared with the entire world, but it's still sad when it shatters 1 person's whole world.



All the balancing comments/opinions have already been said, pending on the commenter's experience, interactions, knowledge, place in life (some have daughters, some are 15 yo daughters, etc...) So no need for me to add to that.

I'm just appreicative that we live in a country that enables ALL the rights and freedom to express their (valid) opinions through their eyes... The same rights and freedom, that unfortuntely empowered to the people "picking on" Amanda in her story, and the same freedom that sadly allowed Amanda to make the choices she had.



Fml I'm so depressed now... Fuck you Beyond reconnecting me with this kid... But thanks for listening, taking this load off my back, I been owning it for years and thought was going to have to take it with me till the day I'm no longer a Beyonder.
