The photos on that website look like a beyonders work. Going to get my hands on this stuff for a tasting.

    Yeah it's messed out there.

Was eyeing the 40 YO Benromach... Dreaming
Well turns out dreams come true just in small bottle form. KWM is doing a Benromach tasting with both Batch 1 and 2 40 YO bottles. Stoked!

Tried a sample bottle of this Glentauchers and had to commit to a full bottle - this is one of the best unpeated sherried scotches I've ever tried and have been fortunate to try a lot from all the tastings. I have a bottle of Glendronach 21 that I tried against this and this Glentauchers pulls ahead easily (bold statement I know).

They also have an G&M Ardmore that came in if you enjoy peated stuff but it's quite savory and not really my jam. I can appreciate it for what it is though, very very complex, and the peat is clean and complementary.

Had to pick up another bottle of the Whisky Sponge Craigellachie 2003, it's just so damn good.

It's been a while since I've sipped this one, but cracked it the other day was absolutely fantastic, one of the more enjoyable sips I've had in a while. Love me some Bunna!

    It's a good one!

It might be a bit blasphemous but I actually enjoy the 12 YO CS more.

Had some of this on a recent Golf trip to BC.

Bottle itself was 65 years old Minimum. Not sure how long it was in the casks.

A blend for sure...but was really good.

Attended the fancy pants Benromach tasting with KWM last night, what a lineup of absolute bangers - genuinely!

    The lineup consisted of:

    - Benromach 2003 NA Cask
    - Benromach 2002 Canada Cask
    - Benromach 40 Year 2022
    - Benromach 40 Year 2022 Edition 2
    - Benromach Contrasts Double Matured Bordeaux
    - Benromach 2013 The Caledonian Cask
    - Benromach 2013 Whisky Rant Cask
    - Benromach 2011 The Strath’s 20th Annv Cask

My personal favourites I would buy in order of preference are 2002, 2003, Whisky Rant, The Strath and Bordeaux. The 40 YOs are insanely expensive, good but no way worth their price IMO. The Caledonian was too weird.

I already have the 2002 and 2003 but I'm thinking of getting another of each while they're available. Knockout scotches that I think anyone would be hard-pressed to fault.

My wife and I will be at KWM this Friday for the Springbank tasting, looking forward to finally trying a Local Barley. @Eride are you guys covering the event by chance?

Won't be there for that one unfortunately! You're in for a treat though! Glad to see the Springbank team leaning so heavily into public tastings these days, great way to allow as many people as possible to taste their stuff!

Grabbed the new Lagavulin Offerman edition, this one is finished in Caribbean Rum casks, quite nice actually. On sale at Costco for around $90 I think, nice little tropical twist on a classic Islay malt.

Wife and I went to KWM's Single Malt Festival, some 100+ bottles were opened. Much to her surprise she wasn't the only woman there which was nice but still a small turn out given the Lassie event sold out. About half the bottles were nothing particularly special but that still means the other half were pretty awesome!

    Some standouts I've marked off:
    - GM 1988 Bladnoch
    - GM 2000/2006 Glentauchers
    - Glenkinchie 27
    - Lagavulin 11 rum cask
    - Glenallachie 18
    - White Heather 21
    - Berry's 2007 Glen Moray
    - Berry's 2009 Blair Athol
    - Berry's 1997 Bowmore
    - Berry's 2011 Linkwood
    - SMWS 85.73
    - Rest and Be Thankful Bruichladdich 18

The younger Berry Bros offerings really stole the show for me not only from a taste perspective but present exceptional value especially when immediately compared to some excellent but spendy bottles. SMWS has some wild stuff, cool to try thankfully, but to commit to some of these wacky bottles is too much.

@Eride I'm glad you suggested the Lag rum cask as I've been pretty turned off Lag given the 16 just wasn't my jam. But all the charcoal and campfire notes were overpowered with the sweetness of the rum. I think I'd still take a Bruichladdich offering personally but really happy I tried that guy.

The Kirkland islay scotch is awful.

    That is all.

Yeah not great... Their older offerings have been fantastic, seasonal though. What islays do you like?

If they come out with 20+ YO stuff again they'll be instant buys.

Really? That’s too bad, it must’ve gone downhill. When I used to get it, it was perfectly drinkable.
