There's a couple things I've got my eye on but my wife might murder me if I buy any more scotch
My Bunna's are currently with customs/AGLC. The process has been surprisingly straightforward. But what the fuck is an Alberta Liquor Mark Up fee! It's more than the duty and GST combined!

Yeah was just looking through the email.
Glenallachie 10 CS is a good deal and great product, and Benromach 2007. I dunno nothing else really jumped out to me.

Picked up one of these. I've had it before, it's really solid. Can't pass it up for 30% off.
Edit: nvm they sold out sometime after I made my order but before they could fulfil it. Just got a cancellation email

Wallet was safe on this one.
I can eat more hot wings than you.
Beyond.ca scotch drinkers, I need some help picking a bottle for the inlaws. Last year I got them a bottle of Balvenie 21 as their daily drivers are Balvenie 12 & 14 (they had run out of the 21 so it was a no brainer).
Currently I am considering Glengoyne 21 or Glendronach 21 as these should fit their preference for sherry casked scotch. Open to other suggestions though as I am a bourbon drinker and know very little about scotch. TIA!

Benromach 21, Tamhdu 18, Edradour 21 ($$$), Coop's Glenallachie CS PX, Glendronach 21 is wonderful but also $$$, Bowmore 18 if they can do some peat
The Balvenie 17 DW, if they still have it, would be a good one. It's discontinued now and really tough find.

IMO the KWM "The Burns Bash Whisky Festival" in Jan is even better.
only $50. Im going.
Been a couple months without tearing into my scotch collection… Decided it was time to break the fast and poured myself a lovely Balvenie 21 Portwood finish… One of my favourite bottles!
I'm volunteering with a charitable organization that is planning a Robbie Burns night supper. Suggestions for an economical scotch that won't offend anyone for the toasts etc. We aren't charging much for this, so emphasis on economical for sure.

^ What kind of budget do you mean for economical?
Bunnahabhain 12 is around C$75 I think and one of my favourite whiskies for newbies.
Perhaps Tomatin 12 if you're looking for something cheaper.
I'll have to check with the treasurer. Probably $75 is the upper end. $60 likely a better target.

IMO this is the one of the best deals for a standard scotch at the moment: https://craftcellars.ca/product/crai...ar-old-46-abv/
Bunna 12 is great. Balvenie 12 DW is classic.
Costco had Benromach 10 for less than $60

Hard to beat the Benromach 10 for the price, it's a crowd-pleaser! That Craigellachie is fantastic as well but probably appeals to the whisky nerd a bit more than just average scotch drinkers. A couple other options could be the Classic Laddie from Bruichladdich, the Glenmorangie 10, or even a bottle of the Naked Malt, it's actually great especially for the price. https://zyn.ca/products/the-naked-grouse
Finished up the Glenallachie tasting tonight. Andrew from the distillery got off the plane a few hours before doing the tasting!
Got to try the Glenallachie 30 yr Batch 1 which was simply unreal. The 10 year CS and McNair 10 year CS were the standouts that were actually purchaseable. The 18 did absolutely nothing for me, and found the 11 year PX a bit too much for my liking. A couple blends that were ok but nothing special.
A lot of fun and liked the in store setup at Craft Cellars. They're doing a virtual version of it soon.
Some of their regular pricing is a bit much though. $256 for a Benromach 21?!
