Default New iMac (Nov & Dec 2012)

So Apple's just announced new iMacs (amongst other new products), look great, sound great... but WTF happened to the current generation iMac's I was JUST looking at yesterday on their website. Where they had the current gen iMacs they are showing these new iMacs, and where it used to say 'Buy Now' or 'Add to Cart', it says the availability date of the new iMacs instead. Like WTH? Do all those current gen iMacs go to the fucking wreckers or wtf, why can't i buy a current gen. today?

Uh....try looking at the refurbished section or go to a store. When they announce the new stuff they delete the old stuff..common practice.

Also, why would you want to buy the old version today when the new one is out in a month?

The older stuff gets sold at volume and large discounts to the education sector from what I've read before. A few of them go into the refurb/replacement pile for when people need them for warranty purposes.

Common "Apple" practice that is. I've always hated that about Apple. I prefer the not-uncommon "world" practice, that when a new version of something is announced the old/current is sold off maybe at a slight discount or with incentives (ie. an accessory, etc.).

Oh crap seriously? Yes that is something I would want, more specifically the option of having it and using it when/if I need to. I don't want to rely on the cloud that heavily yet.

Buy a SuperDrive. It's like 40 bucks if you really want it.

Head down to the Apple Store if you want a current Gen today. They even might be discounted as well.

Good advice, those last two. Didn't think of those because I always get internal drives and have never bought laptops or desktops from the Apple store, I've always customized and ordered online/ had them shipped.

If you buy one instore can it still be customized (upgrade parts) at this point/the end of the model?
