    http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/0...T2277-002A.pdf

purple with white stripe - reverse gear signal

What exactly the purpose of this wire? According to the instructions, it wants me to connect that to the reverse LED at the rear of the car!

    pink - speed signal

should i bother with this pink one?

Reverse gear signal is if you are using a reverse cam. The speed one probably isnt
Needed. If not using reverse cam neither needed

Parking brake could probably just be conveniently attached to a ground by accident too. Idk why you'd need a speed cable

hmm, I've been hooking one up too. Is that a good bypass?

iirc when the parking brake is engaged the circuit is completed and when its taken off the circuit is incomplete and thats what most aftermarket stereos look for, by grounding the circuit (basically creating a complete circuit) it appears like the parking brake is always engaged for the stereo. I really don't understand why you would need a bypass instead of just attaching the wire to the same place you have to put the ground.

The bypass module i bought from ebay has 3 wires

    One to ground
One to parking brake on stereo harness
One to remote amp ON on the stereo harness

So no clu if thats any diff from your method of just grounding the parking brk wire

Speed wire might be for speed compensated volume. GM vehicles came factory with a speed compensated volume so as you went faster it turned the volume up and back down as the speed decreased. Maybe after market stereos have speed compensated volume that's my best guess.
