    Default Aristo.

If any of you knew my Civic, I like my cars to be sleeper. The Civic was small time shit though, and it's time to put on my big boy pants and build a real turbo car and apply everything I learned over the last couple years.

So it's around June 2011 and it's time to choose a project car. I decide I want a big ass 4 door with decent power out the door, that I can go retarded on after having some fun first. I wanted an Impala SS that I could drop in an iron block LSX truck motor and boost the fuck out of, but those cars are seriously overpriced and go for 9-13 grand.

I start looking at Aristos. 2JZGTE right out of the gate. 5-7 grand for a decent one. Plus I'm an import guy, and I've always wanted to play with a 2JZ. My only conditions were: Not Silver, has the rear spoiler, not beat to shit. All summer I'm searching for the right one and trying to unload my Civic at the same time. September rolls around and a guy offers to trade his Aristo. Guy fucks me around for a month before finally flaking on the trade. SHIT. I get frustrated and trade the Civic for a shitty SR20 swapped 240sx, because I needed a change of scenery hahaha.

In december I find this car on Kijiji.

Pearl white/silver two tone, has the rear spoiler, and not beat to shit. 5 grand. Perfect! But I don't have cash. Guy obviously doesn't want my crappy 240 in trade. It disappears from Kijiji a few weeks later.

January. Guy offers to trade his rb25 Skyline for my 240, because the Skyline is FOB and needs an OOP. I trade, get the Skyline OOPd and sell it. Finally have cash/parking space for a new project car.

February. Searching and I find this car.

It's the same fuckin car! Guy gave up in December, then put it back on the market. I roll on over and we strike a deal. 4600 bucks.

Pick it up and on the way home hit up work to give it a wash. Thing's got Mine's stickers all over it haha.

    So it came with:
    Mines ECU
    Tein coilovers
    HKS Shroom
    HKS BOV
    Greddy FMIC
    Some random catback
    LS430 rims

And the mess of a sequential system wasn't working properly because some hoses were swapped incorrectly. It would build 10 psi and then the second turbo would hit and boost would drop to 5 psi. It was painfully slow.

I do some reading up on the 2J sequential system and basically re do the entire control system's hoses according to factory diagrams. Suddenly it works the way it's supposed to! Hey this thing is kinda quick now.

Add some white horns behind the grill, track down a K&N filter that fits that ARC airbox, desticker the body and engine bay. Grab and MBC and turn up the boost.

In search of wheels for this thing. I finally find a set of old Work Ryver Touring wheels on kijiji in Winnipeg. 100 bucks for a greyhound and soon they're at my door. 18x8 +50 and 18x9 +50. Lame offset but they suit the car so well. I had to get them.

Now I've got it where I'm hitting the glass ceiling on the twins/stock injectors/stock ECU etc. So I want to see what it's putting down.

350whp 320ftlbs at 16 psi! Nice. It seriously exceeded my expectations, I was hoping it would just break 300. Gotta figure it's a good 400 crank hp given this was through a 20 year old Toyota auto tranny.

Got some 25mm spacers because hellasunk was pissing me off.

    Before

    After

And that's basically how I drove it all summer.

The last month or so before the snow hit the ground I've been driving it at an ill advised 19 psi just to see if anything would happen, HAHA. Felt pretty quick. Turbos didn't explode, now it's time to rip them out.

Here's the parts I have so far. Pretty weak collection, but I'm in the buying/teardown phase right now. Hope to have the single conversion done and it putting down 400whp next summer. Then it'll need a built tranny and a real fuel system to put down big power the year after that.

USDM Supra 550cc injectors, cleaned and matched by OHNO5OH.

Borg Warner S300SX3-66 .91AR twin scroll. Just picked it up Friday.

Next to an old turbo I have lying around.

    Big hotside.

One half of the T4 twin scroll is as big as an entire T28 hotside's inlet!

And here's an interesting piece. A 38mm wastegate muffler off an old ass Porsche 911 Turbo. Note "930" stamped on the can. Got it for 15 bucks off some dude here in Calgary that owns a bunch of Porsches.

They ran an open dump with this little muffler on it. Neat. I'm worried it might cause creep, but I would think Porsche knows a thing or two about turbocharging.

So that's where I'm at right now. If I get ambitious this weekend I might start ripping the stock twins out.

Still in disbelief that you made 350 wheel on that dyno I'm jealous!!! I don't follow your torque curve though, what were the torque numbers? *NVW..saw it yay at least I have 2 ft lbs on you! I'm shocked that tranny can handle that kinda torque.

HAHA yeah me too. Imports are definitely not known for strong auto trannys.

We'll see how it holds up next summer.

That second curve on the dyno chart is boost, by the way.

Here's one with torque on it.

Finally committed to grounding it for good this winter. Started doing some disassembly.

There's actually a pair of turbos under all that garbage!

Minimal bloodshed thus far. I've only taken off all the intake and compressor shit. Haven't touched any of the hot/rusty stuff.
