Google has the most retarded supply chain ever...
Nov 14th 11:47PM Departs from Louisville, KY
Nov 16th 4:54AM Departs from Minneapolis, MN
Nov 18th 5:17PM Departs from Winnipeg, MB
Hoping it gets here today... this must've been a ground delivery. Why wouldn't Google give you the option to go by air?
I ordered two textbooks from Amzon.com on Nov14th, so roughly the same size/weight of a tablet as far as postage goes (probably a little heavier and bigger, actually). Delivery was $23, I ordered at 2PM on the 14th, and received it at 11AM on the 15th... and Louisville, KY was it's second stop.
Amazon has Google dominated as far as supply chain goes... Eventually it'll be a battle royale between Google, Apple, Amazon and maybe Microsoft... each with their own corner of the markets, each trying to grow into their competitor's space.

I don't think you need to be worried... frustrated, sure, but worried? You bought your phone from Google, not BanerjeeOriginally posted by Cos
They have my money and show my order but besides that Google cant tell me squat. Has me a bit worried.
Would it be the R&D costs they are subsidizing?Originally posted by ZEDGE
That $300 mark is also due to Google subsidizing the price quite a bit apparently.
When I was in University, I had a prof that spent half his time in China working for major companies' manufacturing facilities, and he did some work for Apple. He said an iPhone (at the time, so the 3GS or 4) costs under $20 in parts to build. I have no way of verifying that but I don't see a reason he would lie. I'm guessing at $300 google is still making a killing on these things. Even if they cost $200 to make they would still be making a killing.

These prices also don't include any R&D, design, manufacturing, marketing, shipping or any other associated costs.
Interesting. I wonder if there are kickbacks or something as well for Apple for buying X million of whatever parts.Originally posted by sputnik

That still seems high to me though but all I have to go on is what my prof told us. Maybe he meant iPod and not iPhone .
I wonder when more stock will be available. PM me if anyone decides to sell theirs.

worth a shot
N10 got delivered to my office around 10AM today.
Haven't had too much time to play around with it yet... it's ok I guess... screen didn't blow me away like I thought it would.
Finally got my shipping notice from google play, took them long enough.
Tracking number isn't available on the UPS site yet, so I'm thinking that google just shipped it...
Wonder how long it will take now.
Seems like the nexus 10s are back up on Google play.
I got a shipping notice on the 15th with it being processed by UPS at 7:33pm. Its due to arrive by the end of day tomorrow. So you may see it friday but most likely monday.Originally posted by Cyriel

When u said $20, u were talking about raw materials right? Like silicon, aluminum, mercury, etc. Cuz there is no way that u can make an iphone for that cheap. So based on ur calculation, it might only cost, say, $50 for a computer? Or $5000 for a car?Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

LOL.
How do you access files on a Google tablet? On the GS3 there's an app, doesn't seem to be one on the N10... ?
Because the galaxy series comes with a gay basic file explorer.Originally posted by Super_Geo

Download ES file explorer from the market.
Yes, raw materials/parts only.Originally posted by NoMoreG35

What do you mean by my "calculation"? I didn't show any calculations. I was stating something that a prof had told me who worked closely with the facility that produces some products for apple. I also said it's possible he meant iPod, and that I obviously had no way to verify. It was just an interesting point as he took the time to share that with the class at the time.
Feel free to show us all of your hard evidence and calculations as to what it costs to make an iPhone.
Oh, and there are definitely cars that cost less than $5000 to make in other parts of the world, like where the iPhone is made.

after playing around with the Nexus 10 for about 2 hours now, I am really starting to like this thing. The screen wasn't so impressive at first but the more you use it the more you appreciate the ridiculous resolution that has. I think I was comparing it to the screen on the Samsung s3 at first, which really isn't a fair comparison. Ohh, this entire post has been typed out using Google Voice, which is been surprisingly accurate so far. I'm just sitting in my living room dictating to the tablet. Apple is so f***** .
