How many people have switched their 4's to LTE?
Here are some back to back tests with different sim cards:
(Desk at work, inside office, same spot)
WCDMA Preffered:
Ping: 173 D/L: 5.27Mbps U/L:0.85Mbps
LTE/GSM Auto:
Ping: 156 D/L: 12.13 Mbps U/L: 6.02Mbps
As you an see a pretty large difference... first micro sim was the one I had with my iphone4... new one was fresh from the store today.
For those unaware of the setting changes:
1. Dial: *#*#4636#*#* then Phone Info, then click on the WCDMA near the bottom, and a choice of networks will come available. I chose LTE/GSM auto... you can choose LTE only. (Not sure if there is any difference.. some places I vists wont have LTE)
2. Settings--More--Mobile Networks--Access Point Names--Settings (three dots at bottom) --New APN--Name: Rogers LTE, APN: lteinternet.apn---Save
Choose that APN and you are set. 4G should now be seen in your status bar if available.
Done!
** I assume no responsibility for effing up for phone**
The app Phone Info will take you to the same menu as well. Additionally no alternate APN is required for bell/virgin (not sure about other carriers)Originally posted by R-Audi

Anyone seeing abnormally good wireless speeds? I'm getting 50 Mbps down and 5Mbps up on my home wireless. I never saw more than 20 or so on my Gnex and nothing else has changed. The speed climbs so fast it looks like it would go higher, but then the test ends.
EDIT: Looks like I'm seeing as high as 12 MB/s upload too.

Correct me if i am wrong but i believe the gnex only supports 2.5ghz 802.11n whereas the N4 supports 5ghz 802.11n.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

The GNex could do 5GHz as well, but my speeds were always worse on 5GHz than 2.4, so I just used 2.4. Now, with the N4, I'm getting the highest wireless speeds I've ever seen from any device, let alone a cell phone, over 5GHz.Originally posted by spike98

The N7, though, is just 2.4 GHz.
I just switched mine to LTE and ran the speedtest app. Results were amazing!
4773.9 kB/s down
821.3 kB/s up
56ms ping
Ran it a few times and I could consistently hit 3000+ kB/s down every time. This is on Bell.
Any more reports on battery life for you LTE guys?
Can you set it to only use LTE for data and drop down to 3G for the rest of the time?
I bought a LTE sim just in case, but I find the HSPA+ almost instant, so I don't know I would notice any difference.
In a little over 6 hours im down to half my battery life with light use on LTE. I do have everything on for syncing.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

I have everything turned on now too, and with light use I see ~24 hours battery life (including the 6ish hours I'm sleeping and the phone is unused). 12ish hours or 50% battery life is probably too much for me to give up, at least until I get a charging mat. I find HSPA+ extremely fast as-is anyhow. I'm never waiting for anything, nor do I download large files without Wifi.Originally posted by A2VR6

For those teathering to a tablet or something though I could see how LTE would be a massive advantage.

From the N4 I saw on Fido LTE, with average signal, it's 20Mb/s down and 7-8Mb/s up.
Anyone has their N4 on WIND or Mobilicity's HSPA+?
Do you use Rogers' LTE? Or do you type something in specifically for Fido?Originally posted by Xtrema
