All the forums I belong to are like that.

It's like selling on Ebay, you always end the auction before 5pm eastern time during the week.

My morals and instincts have not changed. How I look at other parents and what they are doing has.

It is like that old saying, walk a mile in my shoes and you will understand.

It would be like me telling you how to be an actor.

Or if I said that being a realtor is easy. Damn, you sell 1 million dollar house and you are set. If only it were that easy.

So, because I changed how I view parents after having a kid, you are judging my morals and instincts?

Let me know when you have a kid and then we can talk.

You didn't read what I wrote either. Who was judging your morals and instincts? I was typing in third person from my perspective.

As for advice on a career you know nothing about? Yeah I wouldn't expect you to comment. About parenting, which we've all been SUBJECT to and are at some point in adulthood, capable of forming opinions, ideas and morals to guide and advise? We most certainly can even without kids.

It must have been your wording that triggered it for me I guess, saying "I find it interesting that all the non-parents on beyond have anything to say." Maybe I took it out of context and maybe i'm a bit sensitive that I don't have a family yet..lol...

Choosing a kids major? HUH? LOL
Yes. My parents taught me to read comments thoroughly before commenting on a web forum back in the early 80s. Totally.

And YES...you ARE choosing your kid's major. Giving them two choices isn't giving them freedom to make their decisions. Unless I missed it somewhere in this 16 page ego filled thread of yours that your child chose those two majors. I'm willing to bet she didn't. If she did, I'm sure she has another TRUE passion she's afraid to pursue.

I've ridden on a plane lots. By your logic that means I can start telling the pilot what I think is wrong with how he's flying?

Or maybe I can be a good actor because I've watched lots of films?

Honestly, I used to think like you. How hard can it be? I had parents, why can't I parent? But as soon as you're in the drivers seat, it's an entirely new ballgame. You have to so cognizant of so many factors, watching al the time, and considering the impact of every single action... If you want to be a good parent at least. I never had any clue until I started living it, and its truly only learned on the job, moment by moment.

So what's happening now? Still planning to go to school here? Has she decided what program who wants to get into? Are things going as planned?

edit: I feel like this is like the movie boyhood

But then now we'll know if it was actually successful or not. Or at least this would be the mid-term update. College acceptance, etc.

Nice 4 year bump. That would put his daughter at 18. Just saying.

I imagine U of C engineering isn't the most optimistic learning environment right now, let's hope she 'chose' Computer Science.

Reading the first page of posts where 89Coupe starts this thread and then several posts in, claims he's "not a nazi"...

She's 18 and currently enrolled at Mount Royal University in the registered nursing program. Her first marks came back and they were all in the 90's

She was accepted to both schools FYI.
