A new direct-injection/turbo engine displaces 2.0 liters, compared to 2.5 for the current Forester turbo engine. This engine will also power the forthcoming BRZ turbo, with direct fuel injection developed by Subaru rather than the port/direct-injection combo engineered by Toyota for the normally aspirated BRZ and Scion FR-S.

A single twin-scroll turbocharger mounts below the top of the block to maintain the boxer engine's low center of mass. In the Forester, the 2.0T generates 250 hp and 258 lb-ftÑup 26 hp and 28 lb-ft from the current, larger turbo engine. Subaru claims a Porsche Cayenne-grade 0-to-60 time of 6.2 seconds, with EPA ratings of 23/28. That's with the CVT, which will be the only transmission offered with the new turbo. Its control program includes a ÒsportÓ mode with six step Ògears,Ó and Òsport sharpÓ with eight, to simulate closer ratios.

kind of reminds me of the RAV4 in those angles... I care more about that turbo BRZ they mentioned, and the hope of the STi getting that direct injection engine.

Every year the forester gets bigger and bigger.
I think the perfect year for size and style was the 2005 model year, I wish they had the STi version hit the western shores.

Looks ok I guess... not really a huge fan of those front side vents. Really - for the most part, it looks like any other suv. Those performance figures look pretty good - though the CVT being the only transmission kinda blows.

Ignoring the Asian chick in the pics, the Forester is a hideously ugly vehicle and it kinda looks a little better, I guess.
