Very nice. Love the fire place and the tile you chose for the backsplash

Split faced Travertine Retails for around the $18/ft mark. Install, anywhere around $15-$20/sq ft.

We're loving the split faced travertine we just had put up for our new corner fireplace.

That is a beautiful fireplace! I wouldn't mind having one in our master bedroom.

Wow, I love so many things about that basement, from the fireplace display, the tinted windows on the liquor cabinet, to even the bathroom mirror. Very sweet little workout area and equipment as well.

    Nice!

What the heck is that red thing supposed to be? Just a clock? lol.

^yeap that is an art piece I got from Dion Brake, a talented local artist. The big contrast in color really stand out.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone.

My basement development should be starting in a week. I'm pretty excited. I don't have a lot of "wow" factor planned, so I'm probably not posting any pics, but it'll be nice to increase the living space of my house by 50%.

Not ot mention, it'll be a good excuse to buy a bigger TV.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I figured I would bump this thread...finally have some progress on this.

The guy that did the basement for G is going to start building mine on February 4th. Mine will be a completely different layout (obviously), and we are going to try to match as much of the materials that are already in the house.

But I will say, that we are going to have similar features in our basement except for a few things. Mine will have a wetbar, and I won't be putting in a gym area. Also our fireplace will be installed in the corner. Other then that...it's a walkout basement development.

I will update with photo's as progress happens.

Oh and for people's curiostity, I got 5 companies in for quotes.

2 didn't give me any pricing as I didn't continue for any sort of trades day with them (didn't get a good vibe out of the estimators).
    2 gave me budgetary pricing.
1 gave me a quote up front.

I did go ahead and do a trades day with one company, but in the end his numbers ended up being almost 14k more then the contactor I picked, not including any sort of A/V work for basically the same materials.

Make sure to take lots of pictures and hope you enjoy the process as much as we did. Best money we ever spent....60k for 1/3 more house is a great deal.
