In Alberta, November.11th is a stat holiday.
Huh, would you look at that, I stand corrected. I could have sworn I looked it up last year and it said otherwise. Maybe I was looking at a Federal list & not a provincial one. Good to know though.

Our office is open on Remembrance Day. Our company's birthday actually falls on November 11. However, we take an extra day off in lieu during Christmas holidays.

Info for those that work for a provincially regulated company in Alberta - link. Only 9 official stats in Alberta - if you're getting anything more, then it's due to the generosity of your employer. That said, does everyone know whether or not the company they're working for is provincially or federally regulated with regards to labour related issues?
    Will fuck off, again.

What I think sucks, is that in Alberta...if the stat falls on your regular day off (ie: Sunday in this case) you are not entitled to a day off with pay. So this year you don't get one, but next year you WOULD. Seems stupid.
Other provinces don't make that distinction. In BC, for example, you get a day off with pay, no matter what day the stat falls on.

Technically that's the RULE but I think a lot of employers still pay overtime (if you're working) or give a day in lieu or just close the next day (like us).

Alberta is so desperate for workers, yet they have the worst labor laws in Canada.

I'm working today but I get the full 11 days off over Christmas break in lieu. For anyone getting Christmas eve off this year, it works out really well for maximizing time off.

I think a lot of it stems from oilfield production but it shouldn't apply to everyone ..totally agree.

At work right now, driving to work, all the automotive related places I drive by are all closed. But since we are a dealership, we stay open. Oh wells, hasn't been busy so lets me catch up on some stuff and Beyond threads

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

    At work!

Honestly, I don't think anyone from my company took a day off. We all get a day-in-lieu, however, so that's something :P

Work is at about 1/2 normal call/ticket volume, anyways. Nice relaxing Monday

i honestly cant believe we got nothing, no day off, no day in lieu.

we get aug long off though and thats not a stat

this year it really wouldnt have cost the company anything to give us x-mas eve in lieu since thats always a half day anyways. who wants to come in on a monday when you get the next two days off for half a day?!
