Default Israel has mobilized the military.

    Uh oh.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/middle_east/

Rumor has it that the spy satellites are picking up significant troop movements in Israel. Assuming a little less than two weeks to man, supply and arm the borders - Maybe Nov 27th for a war declaration.

I was hoping to avoid it in my lifetime, but oh well if it does happen.

Heard it on 660 on the drive home, definitely looks like they're getting ready for a ground invasion

Lets not forget what our defence minister said last year

"a threat to Israel is a threat to Canada."

MacKay has said he's sent 'messages urging restraint' to Israel. But really, I think Israel has just had enough of this.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters on Thursday that Israel has "made it clear" it won't tolerate continued rocket fire on its civilians. The threat came after three Israelis were killed earlier in the day in the southern Israeli town of Kiryat Malachi — the first fatalities in Israel since it launched its latest Gaza operation.

"No government would tolerate a situation where nearly a fifth of its people live under a constant barrage of rockets and missile fire, and Israel will not tolerate this situation," he said.

I think everyone wants this war:
-Assad wants to deflect attention of the world community from that whole civil war situation he has going on in his own backyard
    -Iran wants to nuke Israel
-Israel wants to dive into this war, so that by the time it starts seeing casualties, the US can come in and attack Iran
It's win-win-win Pretty sad state of affairs.
If shit is going to hit the fan, the US will have to put boots on the ground - none of this UAV-selective-bombing stuff is going to work in this scenario.

Israel is just using this as an excuse to start shit with Iran. Next thing you know, they will be saying that Iran is providing direct military support to Hamas and that they NEED to attack.

I say just blockade all the ways into the region and let them finish it once and for all. Should be enough weapons in the region that they do each other in.

So 300 rocket strikes by hamas as quoted by Israeli miltary, compared to 320 by Israel. 15 dead in Gaza vs. 3 in Israel.

Israel claims rockets are supplied by Iran? So Gaza is strip surrounded by Israel and water. Aid ships can't reach Gaza but Iranian rockets can? Okay.

Who fired first and who's a terrorist organization will be dictated by our media (US/Can's ally in this case is Israel, so our media has ni bias at all...).

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...asualties.html

"As of Thursday afternoon, the Israel military said Iron Dome had intercepted 90 of an estimated 250 rockets fired by militant groups in the Palestinian territory in the previous 24 hours.

That ratio may not look particularly impressive, but the system is smart enough to ignore missiles that it detects are heading for open land or farmland. During previous but less intense barrages, the Israelis have claimed Iron Dome has brought down 85 per cent of the rockets it has targeted."

Well, at least its better than the old US patriot defense system that used to only shoot down 15%. Mind you, the incoming rocket bombs are not supersonic either (at least I don't think they are) I believe the US has versions of the patriot defense system for all coastal cities. New York is still reeling from the storm, and there is a small but possible chance someone would try to take advantage of it.

BTW: I'm still thumbs up for a Calgary anti-aircraft site, you just never know when the US or US rogue general might be planning a sneak attack, afterall. At the very least it is time to dust off the old citywide air raid sirens (they have been decomissioned for quite a while)

Every time Palestinians get a little political momentum, they act like animals.

They'll never get anywhere like this.

And what exactly would you recommend instead? Heck, if I was living in the equivalent of a premanent refugee camp, having food shipments blocked off, and fighter jets reigning down "justice", I'd be pretty pissed off too. Speaking of acting like animals, I've met a fair share of Israelis travelling. If you put a coat on a pig, it's still a pig.
