I'm surprised the teacher retaliated against the kid. In Grade 8 we had a kid in school go after a teacher and the teacher just held his arms behind his back and wrestled him down until another teacher could get there & help. Needless to say the kid was kicked out of school and I had heard ended up in jail years later (big surprise).

I have been hit or choked by teachers on multiple occasions but usually with some form of cause. I never really cared to report it though, I was Ogre bopped once, tackled and choked once, and pinned against a wall and choked once in the 5 year span from grade 8 to grade 12

I broke my teachers finger during a floor hockey game once when he pinned me to the wall.

P.S. He pinned me jokingly and I accidently slid my stick and caught his finger...

I had a great uncle who was a bare knuckle boxer back in the olden days, who was also a teacher, not a big guy, and pretty quiet.. Back in the time of one room school houses, there was one that was known for having a few bad kids, who were really hard on the women teachers they had come thru the school.

So they hired him to come in and see if he could 'handle them'.. Well the first day things went ok until lunch, just some wise cracks and whatnot... the kids went out for lunch and when they returned, the first thing a piece of sod gets thrown against the black board, from the recently ploughed field next to the school house. So he turns around and asks who threw it, no one would admit it, but he knew the biggest oldest guy in the school was known to be the ring leader, and none of the other kids would rat on him.

So he said they would stay until someone owned up to it, he locked the door and sat down. Hours passed and supper time came and went and they kept asking when they could leave, and he wouldnt let them until someone owned to it.

Well finally by 6pm the big guy finally says he did it. My uncle gets up and quietly walks back and opens the door and tells everyone else they are able to leave. He tells the big guy to sit there and wait, as he locks the door again.

He goes back to his desk and grabs his little leather gloves that they used for fights, and tells the kid to stand up.. The kid is scared at this point even though he is the bigger guy and asks what hes going to do?

My uncle tells him calmly they're going to settle this and to put up his hands. The kid says "you cant do that' .. But my uncle gives him a poke and tells him to put up his hands. He then proceeds to give him a BEATING until the kid is bloody and crying for him to stop. My uncle stops and lets him up and tells him, he is free to leave and that 'I think we understand one another now'..

There was never a mention of it again, not from him, his parents, or even chatter from the other kids.. and they actually ended up being pretty friendly with one another after that day.

He's dead and gone now, but he smiled like hell when he told that story.

Yeah a kid definitely deserves to be beaten bloody by a trained boxer for throwing dirt at the chalkboard. If I had a kid and that happened to him I would have a hard time not murdering your uncle. Brutal

In my opinion we could learn a thing or two about the way they disciplined kids. Maybe we wouldn't have such bratty ass entitlement issues like we do nowadays.
