Yeah, by wearing raw denim, the fades and creases come from natural wear and tear, usually resulting in a very good looking jean (whiskers, combs, stacks, etc.).

The better raw denim is also selvedge, which is a way finishing the edges of the fabric. I think most denim used to be selvedge made on shuttle looms, but then manufacturers moved to projectile looms to make more denim for cheaper.

I know there are a few threads on denim already, but this is strictly for raw denim.

    I'll start:

I've owned 5 pairs of raw denim: 3 nudies, 2 naked & famous.
My first pair of nudies were the slim jim dry broken twill, worn 1 year before first wash (pics will be posted soon). I rarely wear these anymore because they have worn really thin, there is a hole in the back pocket that I still need to get fixed, and the crotch blowout needs a better repair job.

My second pair of nudies haven't been washed yet, been worn about 6 months, but I had a crotch blowout that I haven't gotten around to repairing.

Third pair of nudies were the first selvege nudies I bought, and I'm currently about 1 month into wear.

First N&F has about 1 year of wear, no washes yet, and a hole forming in the crotch.

I've been reading this forum RAWR Denim and I came across this post showing a guy repairing holes and blowouts using the "darning" method

Does anyone know if there's a place in calgary that does this? It looks like they use a special sewing machine to do it.

My newest pair of raw denim are the N&F Left Hand Twill in Weird Guy cut. They are super stiff and I've only worn them for about a week. I'm really excited on how this one will wear.
Man I need this kind of repair. Got 3 favorite jeans one of them diesel that just as bad as the one in the video. I took it to one tailer and he told go buy a new pair of jeans but I've grown attached to these ones.

So is this whole don't wash them for a year thing just to make for better wear patterns then? Where would I go to get decent ~100 raw denim? It's about time to replace my ratty jeans lol

think unbranded would be your best bet if youre not willing to pay that much for raw denim.

I got mine from a place on 1st Street called Songkla but I think they closed a couple of years ago.
I vaguely remember some at Holt but I would call and check before heading down there.

I am wearing my naked and famous weird guy cut. I like it better than my nudies. I'll be wearing it for a few more months or so before I give it a wash and see where it goes. I also got another pair of naked and famous in black that I can't wait to sport haha.

I have a couple of raw denim I have not washed for more than a year. I wonder if it will fall apart once I wash it.

Is there a definitive process on how to wash these jeans for the first time?

    I ordered mine from here

    http://www.brownsfashion.com/home/

But check this thread out on super future, has all the info you need on the Diors.

I'd recommend made in japan, as i tried both made in japan and made in italy when i was at the hawaii dior homme store, and i like the fit and feel of the made in japan better.

You can google this, there are tons of forums and ways to wash these to increase the longevity.

Hardcores will wash by hand in a bath tub or big basin.

More carefree peeps turn inside out and use the washing machine with wool light dark, on handwash or delicate cycle with cold water. Hang dry.

Anyone notice Gustin Jeans on Kickstarter.

$81 for a pair of selvedge jeans is a pretty good deal.

So I wore my naked & famous's to a bonfire the other day and now I've got little mud spots all over around the feet. What's the best way to clean these? Just dab them with a damp rag I'm assuming? Just want to make sure this is okay before I take a wet rag to them as they're still relatively new.
