Delivery cost vs retail margin probably close to a wash. Sounds fair to me.

Well I did hear Notley made Monogram change their bag sizes, right after she was done starting all the wildfires

Another idea for Monogram, admittedly with less selection, is their bulk beans. I bring my own canister and they fill it with their bar espresso beans for a cheaper price. I want to say about $25 for 500ish grams of espresso. Freshness is fine.

Further investigation is required but I think Paradigm Spark is as good, or better, than my beloved Monogram.

The prices there are steep, such as $11 for a pourover, but damn this might be the best pourover I've ever had. She used a different pourover device than I've seen before, which stops it from draining while blooming each pulse and then has a release valve. I can't even find it on their website to show you guys, maybe I missed it (it looked like glass with a black rubber stopper on the bottom). Her technique with the gooseneck was really cool to watch, and they have a little taster to ensure quality before they give it to you. Impressive!

They have a competition set on the menu that I'm gonna go back for soon. Ben's set (espresso+capp combo) from years ago blew my mind about what coffee could be and hasn't been topped yet. So I'm eager to try more stuff here, but it's peak $$$$$ coffee thread.

Our office is in a shit part of town but there's some seriously good coffee and food options, breweries and Zyn all within walking distance.

Their strawberry bombe drink is unreal too. The device you're thinking of is likely the Hario Switch. Paradigm spark is definitely up there, should try sought & found if you haven't.

Yes, that's the one! Love all the different techniques and devices for pourovers.

I really should try S+F, but after their hot chocolate competition description from years ago I can't bring myself to support such a try-hard establishment. Even read a comment on Reddit where the barista refused to make someone coffee because they were going to put cream in it. Would I do that? No. Is the barista a douche canoe? Absolutely. Seems par for the course at that place.

Sounds like they need a reminder of how unimportant coffee is in the grand scheme of things, and how sad it is they make their living pouring it.

Awwww the s&f folks are so nice. Sounds like a misunderstanding or a lie for reddit clout. Good place.

I'm out of touch on the Calgary coffee scene after moving evidently, checked out s&f website and sweet baby jesus $21+ for 227 grams of beans

I ordered a new roaster, will be able to do 1 KG batches in the future, looking forward to the upgrade. Green bean costs have definitely gone up just like everything else in the world but not outlandish.

Any recommendations on where best to buy green beans - ideally Ethiopian? Curious to try roasting at home as well.

Otherwise pre umber and eight ounce are good for buying smaller amounts

Had a cup from the Alta Montana coffee truck today. Chatted with the dude. He's from Columbia, his father in law owns the plantation back home where he gets the beans. He roasts them himself here in Calgary. Nice dude. Gonna order a few bags. Free delivery if you order 2 bags. Not bad pricing.

    ^ Colombia.

Canadians always seem to mess this up due to BC.
