It sure is, got home and started seasoning the burrs. Can see much better uniformity in the grind comparing it to what my breville grind pro can do. Much more quiet and the lack of static and chaff in the grind is great. Looking forward to beginning taste testing and dialing in the grind

What are your coffee aficionado recommendations for best travel mug? Not looking for anything fancy or electric. Just a good size, easy to clean and spill-proof.

Ode Gen 2 for filter/press use and a Niche Zero for espresso

Did you buy the Niche off the shelf somewhere? Last time I was looking at them they were still only ordered from the UK with a decent amount for shipping.

Niche was used for that reason, have to order from the UK. Paid $800 for it which has been the going rate from what I've seen for used sales in Canada for a while now. There's one in Edmonton on Facebook marketplace right now for $800 as well.

Picked up the ode from eight ounce, it's cheaper from crate and barrel if you sign up for their spam and get a 15% off promo code but the Calgary location doesn't have any stock.

you know it's funny, there's a lot of travel mugs out there, but I don't like one that's "too good" because it'll keep the coffee too hot for too long. I like my coffee a bit cooler. Have one mug that insulates far too well, coffee too hot to drink for about 3 hours. I have heard the yeti mugs are amazing, which sounds unusable for me.
So "best" is a really subjective thing, ya know?

I am exactly the same way. I can drink and enjoy cold coffee all day long.

I'm even more of a baby. Basically a goldilocks situation. I can't drink it cold, I can't drink it hot. There's a narrow window.

regular Yeti w/o hotshot cap is best mug by far for cleaning and how long it lasts. I often leave the top off for a bit to get that nice drinkable temp.

Hotshot cap is better for actual no-spill travelling.. but ive also come back to piping hot coffee 3 hours later with it.

Ceramic lined mug is best mug.

    That's actually pretty dope.

How has yours held up? With it being ceramic I'd be nervous if I dropped it.

That's likely a fair assessment but to date, no drops.

I've dropped my Fellow Carter hard enough to leave a big dent on the bottom and the ceramic lining is fine. I prefer it to regular stainless steel mugs. I definitely wouldn't recommend the 360 lid though, it's really impractical.

I've been ordering from Agro Roasters lately. Their quality far exceeds the price point.
Gave these guys a shot… for sure better than greasy grocery store beans… but they seem to be lacking something.

Found they tasted more like “traditional” coffee (chocolate, etc) and not nearly as bright as monogram or even rosso. But was saving my thoughts till I got to the roaster’s choice bag that promised more of those fruit notes (this one was nectarine, toffee, white grape). I want to like it, but back to back with a similar bean variety from monogram and I just can’t.

For sure better value, and the lady isn’t nearly as picky… so we will probably stick to a hybrid of this and monogram for our subscriptions moving forward

I still think Rogue Wave from Edmonton is a solid competitor with Monogram if you like bright coffees. Usually get it 2 days after you order, and two bags is all you need for free shipping.

Thanks! I’ll try and grab a bag next time I’m up there for work.
