Question Why monitors only come in BLACK frames these days!?

There are so many different LCD/LED monitors being made by different manufacturers these days; however why do they all have to be in the boring black plastic frame?! I'm no kidding, if you walk to a computer shop looking to buy a monitor all you see is a wall of black monitors. I wonder why none makes monitors in white color anymore? Similar to TVs, don't you guys think black framed display is boring??

Never once has this thought crossed my mind. Do you also accessorize with a murse by any chance?

I'm sure not only men use monitor/TVs; I would be surprised if more than 50% of the population want their display to be black; however the fact is there isn't a choice other than black color available to us.

Because you want the focus to be on the monitor, not the surrounding bezel. If bezels were brighter colors, you'd be distracted.

Of course, Mac monitors are rarely back. But that's ok - Mac fanboys would still buy them if they were neon green. In fact, they'd probably buy more.

White also yellows and is easily dirtied.

Remember how yellow SNES's got? Old CRT's?

My favorite CRT was a 19" black, looked great, and slowly all PC enthusiast parts became black.

Apple often changes colours to keep consumers interested, neon green would keep the sheep very entertained.

MacBooks have black bezels, with the exception of a few: MBA and mbp Hires

I'm with the OP. You can buy PC cases with a variety of different colours - why not the displays?

Manufacturers seem to think they know whats best - I would prefer a dark blue colour myself.

In the 70s consumer electronics were brown, in the 80s grey, in the 90s they became white and now black.

I used to think white CRTs cases turned yellow because of the radiation

    So whats next, purple???

As an aside, I see a few really cool colour in home appliances - red washer/dryer... etc. Its not a stretch to have electronics with some colour as well.

Nah, gray/silver just like 80% of the boring vehicle colors we see out there.
    Will fuck off, again.

Definitely has nothing to do with the billions of dollars spent on market research for what consumers want....

There's nothing stopping you from pulling apart the screen and painting the bezel...

Black surround makes the brightness/contrast stand out more.
