Default Albertan Drivers - Skill Levels

Are Albertan drivers getting worse by the day or just plain terrible from the get-go?

I believe we are ranked as one of the top cities in terms of worst drivers and to add the cherry on top, is that we're also ranked the most disrespectful on the road.

There is no objective way to rank this.

its not the albertan drivers... its the combination of albertans and having to put up with the worst of BC and ontario... then a little mix of new to canada drivers

^ this! most people who are from here can drive fine

its all the fucking imports we have from ontario and BC that are shitty drivers

my latest pet peeve and it seems to have gotten really bad the last few months

is chain driving left turns on turning lights and 2-3 cars will blatantly go through a now GREEN oncoming traffic light.

i drove fast at a minivan doing this yesterday to scare the shit out of them and nearly tboned them to their own fault!

and then its honestly red light running.. fuck people your going to kill someone doing this! calm down and stop.

I think on the whole Calgary is quite awful... mainly NW calgary. I immediately see the driving skill drop as soon as I pass McMahon.

When I drive in the states I never see the kind of shit I see here.

Holy crap - we need the Coles notes just for that expansive list of options.

I've been to many places in the USA, Europe, and even several 3rd world countries and Calgary is BY FAR the worst. Not even a remotely close comparison IMO. I see things here daily I've never seen anywhere else.

That said, everyone will probably have a different experience as this is rather subjective.

As far as Canadian cities go, Calgary drivers seem pretty average. IMO Vancouver was a bit worse.

Calgary drivers are horrible from the people driving too slow, following too close, thinking they own the road by driving in the fast lane but going slower than the speed limit. I see it everyday and actually moved closer to my work to avoid this before. Now I just try not to drive during rush hour to avoid the nonsense on the road.

ive started to HATE driving due to idiots on the road, and honestly have started developing some mad road rage.

I can sometimes envision rear ending the person driving under the speed limit in the left lane, pulling them out (man, woman or teenager) and stomping their face in.

Where are you driving? Left lane on SW Crowchild and Glenmore is a 100 kph zone at all times.

normally most mornings taking anderson down to 14th street then glenmore. People around 14th are just so horrible at driving... people who are over cautious braking every second, or leaving giant gaps in between cars are the reason this city has such terrible traffic issues.

Yea, always terrible backups on glenmore around 14 street. Whenever I'm driving on 14th south of Glenmore it does feel like most people are not fully awake or something

In LA, while watching the evening weather report there was a huge warning that roads may be wet the next morning and drivers were told to be careful. No frost, no fog, just wet roads from the overnight shower.

The next morning I heard there were accidents everywhere.

    Bad drivers are everywhere.

Why did you get me started! Friday on Glenmore west just passed 45th street 5 pm 4 car pile up in the left lane. Traffic was backed up on Glenmore passed 14th street crawling. When I got to the accident and was passing on the right I saw 3 out of the 4 parties standing in the median on their cell phones. As I rolled by I said "assholes, it a non injury accindent. get your fucking cars off the road, its rush hour!" The guy yells back fuck you.

I love how selfish these people are who create these accidents. Hundreds of people being held up and inconvenienced on a Friday non the less because of their 'right' to wait for the police to investigete. Whats to investigate? Everyone form car #1 back is at fault!

On a side note, it was a rolled curb so there was no reason for them to not move off the road. Cars did not seem incapacitated either.
