    Default Mileage Correction in/around Calgary?

basically had the engine in my truck replaced, and would like to have the odometer reading changed to reflect the KMs on the new engine...

is there anywhere locally that can offer this service? is it even possible in this country? loads of places back home can do this

searching the forum/google doesn't yield much, i'm possibly searching the wrong things though, i dunno if you guys would call it MILEage correction since you're in KMs lol

    That is illegal.

Every person is guilty of an offence who

    (a) alters or adjusts the odometer of a motor vehicle in such a manner that as a result of the alteration or adjustment the total distance indicated on the odometer is other than the total distance travelled by that vehicle; or
    (b) replaces the odometer of a motor vehicle without setting the replacement odometer to the total distance travelled by the vehicle.
Then again if you are going to raise the amount of mileage no one will complain as it will only lower the resale value fo the vehicle and not potentially raise it.

I even hitchhiked to the library once cuz my parents were too lazy to drive me haha. Ya, I'm a nerd.

that will be why google shows no results for Calgary then!

i'll just need to keep all the invoices and proof of the engine mileage and vehicle mileage when fitted and calculate them myself when/if i come to sell then!

where is that quote from please?

Also due to being fraud can be under section 380 of Criminal Code Of Canada.

    thanks!

although this bit makes me wonder:

    (2) No person shall be convicted of an offence

    (a) under paragraph (1)(a) if that person establishes that

    (i) the alteration or adjustment was reasonably necessary for the purpose of making repairs to the odometer or to any other part of the motor vehicle related thereto
surely the engine itself would be considered related to the Odometer?

Sure but so are the tires...

Your best bet is to keep your documentation as you mentioned in your earlier post.

I think they are referring to yanking the odometer cable to avoid racking up miles.
Have you thought about an hour meter?

Document the install-at least you have a record of hours on the new motor.

70% of the truck is still high mileage. That's why it's illegal. Like other's have said, document when the engine was replaced. It wouldn't bother me in the least buying a truck with a replaced engine, but if the odometer was altered I would come unglued.

Get a cluster from the scrap yard, it's not hard to DYI

As noted, highly illegal, if previous owners reported mileage for reg/ins you may get busted, you're better off keeping documentation of the engine repair.
