Default Free blu ray playing and burning software?

    Hey guys

So I installed a blu ray writer quite some time ago and it came with some software (I think it was cyberlink?)

But since then i've reformatted my computer. And.. i've lost the box with the software cd that the drive came with.

So I'm wondering if you guys know any free to use blu ray playing and burning software.

I dont want to spend 50$ on a burning program when the writer itself is worth 50$

    ANy help is appreciated! Thanks!

i use multiAVCHD to author my blurays, once authored, it sets up the burn job with imgburn.

if you want to play them without cyberlink, i would suggest ripping them to mkv on your hard drive with makemkv, then use home theater player classic to play the resulting mkv files. if you want to reauthor the disk, load these mkv files into multiAVCHD.

if your burner came with cyberlink, the serial should be on the paper pack the disk came in, mine did.

ImgBurn is free and burns discs:

You can't play bluray discs legally without proper software such as Cyberlink or PowerDVD. This is why people rip these movies down to a .MKV format so that anything such as XBMC, VLC, Mplayer can watch them with out issues.

Same issue happened back with Windows XP due to licensing of dvd content you could not play a dvd without a 3rd party player such as VLC.

not entirely a trouble free process, but it can work. no menu support yet, and to get it to play encrypted blurays requires some work. there are a number tutorials on how to do it though.

    Code:
    Experimental support for BluRay discs:
    - Menus are deactivated in this release (will come soon).
    - AACS and BD+ DRM libraries and keys are not shipped, for legal reasons.
