Default Recommended Tattoo Artists for large piece?

    Hey all,

The gf is looking to get another tattoo done, and would like some suggestions on where to go.

She's looking for someone with a steady hand that's good at line work (not much filling) for a piece that goes from a quarter sleeve, down her shoulder/back/side and down onto her thigh on one side. She has a few ideas and guidelines of how she wants it to look, but wants to give the artist some freedom to be creative.

Similar to this but most likely less dense:

    Thanks!

I must add, that's a pretty cool concept.

    Hope it turns out well.

have you thought of maybe having her leave the city to go to an artist? Some amazing artists in Van and Ottawa that were featured on top 50 artists lists. I was going to go for more soon but am instead saving more funds to go and get my sleeve done outside the province.

for a large piece why not splurge a bit and get it done somewhere amazing since it'll be on there for life.

She got her back piece done by the 'best of the best' in Vancouver and wasn't a huge fan of their operation when she got it done. She's pretty busy, and isn't able to take time off to go anywhere to get stuff done, so it'll need to be local.

The one guy I know of who is well known for his line work among the tattoo community is Ryan Gagne, he is now in Red Deer and although he mainly does old school style tattoos, I have seen him do other things such as Celtic with intricate designs, and the line work is IMO impeccable. You mentioned line work and he was the first guy that came to mind. Let me know if you are interested, I can forward you his info.

Rob Hope at the coast is amazing for fine line detail type work (or anything else for that matter!) This guy is second to none...

In town there are a few guys who are excellent too. James Tex, James Jacobs, Doug Fink just to name a few. All of these guys will require quite a wait to get an appointment though... Be prepared.

Ryan's trad work is fucking amazing! I have a couple small fun pieces I had done my him when raising money for "Tattoo's for Japan" and they are some of the most solid traditional pieces out there. I have some of his original art as well...
