Default Telus Optik Internet open ports?

Not sure if anyone knows, but is there any ports that are unofficial that can be used to replace port 80. Seems as if Telus blocks all incoming traffic to port 80 and most major official ports.

Pretty much any other port should work except 80, 443, 21 and a few others I'd imagine.

if you have godaddy for a domain, you could easy use a redirect to the proper port, so host you site on something like 8080 and let godaddy hide all that for you. I am sure others do it as well, but that's just what I know.

+1, That's what I do, I set up my server to listen to port 8080, open it on the stupid telus router/modem, and forward my domain from godaddy to my OpenDns account which is linked to my IP and port.

Does the godaddy redirect actually redirect or will it hide (mask?) the destination ip so the user still sees domainname.com for the address? I might eventually move a site I have to a proper host but for now it would be nice to have domainname.com go to my ip:8080 and still show as domainname.com

This is up to you, you can hide all of that and just show your site without any port numbers, there are a few options built in for this

liked what eblend said, that option is up to you. You can mask it or you don't have to (shows ip:port)

www.jlai.ca is my site and it masks the title to my name instead of the ip address and port
