    Question Hawaii condo rentals

    Has anyone used this agency?

    http://www.waikikioceanfrontrentals.com/

Or can recommend another agency similar?

My Dad spends three months a year on the Islands. He uses VRBO http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/hawaii

I've used VRBO for the Virgin Islands and also for Kelowna. Good experience both times.

We used VRBO last june in Waikiki and would totally recommend. Just make sure you ask how up to date the pics are and read the most recent reviews.

Kinda surprised you're asking coupe, it seems like you're there every year.

    +1 for VRBO.

found a good beachfront house in windward oahu that we've been to twice now
and a good 4th floor condo near kihei in maui for those interested.

not 89coupe level though but very good for a couple in a budget.

I've always used Expedia, but this time the Wife wants a kitchen so she can make us breakfast.

I'm aware of VRBO but I find it to be riddled with crap that takes a long time to sift through.

Really? You are going to make the Wife work on vacation?

We've tried the condo rentals. Never had a good experience. Maybe our expectations are too high.

Good reviews are meaningless. They can all be staged. We stayed in South Miami beach and paid what we would have at a hotel. The place was WAY smaller than the pictures showed and it was filthy.

We also did the VRBO thing in Paris in 2010. Again, pictures only show the good angles and reviews were all positive.

In Hawaii, I have had a lot of success with Priceline. I don't care about ocean views, etc. We just need a room to put our stuff in and sleep. We've stayed at the Hyatt, Hilton and the Sheraton right on Waikiki and have never paid more than $100 / night.

You do have to chose the right time though. Check the Honolulu convention center for when there are big conventions.

Last year, we paid $150 / night because we decided to go when there was a Dentist convention. There were 18,000 dentists. Room rate do go up... haha

The kitchen was useful when we went, it's nice to not have to get up and rush out to find a place to eat because some people are hungry. We all got up when ever and who ever was hungry just went in the kitchen and helped themselves. I'm not a breakfast person so it was nice to sleep in or just lounge while the others ate.

Totally agreed with the crap in VRBO, even our place was a little exaggerated but the owner was super nice and gave us a discount.

Yeh, we are lazy and like to sleep in. We would always miss the breakfast buffets. The Wife loves to have breakfast and requested I find a hotel/condo with kitchen suites.

Check out the Honua Kai Brad. Stayed in a 2 bedroom with a full kitchen and laundry last April. Great location in Kaanapali plus with resort amenities.

I'm not going back to Maui, maybe when I'm old and grey. Heading back to Oahu. We like beaches and night life. Haha

I've never seen more drunken old people in one spot than in Waikiki in late Sept after the kiddies go to school.

    The kids? Of course not.

Maui equals, get into a car and drive to your destination, in this case a restaurant. Oh, and make sure it's before 9pm, cause that's when they all close.

Waiki equals, find your favorite restaurant, book it, and walk over, and yes they are open past 9pm, haha.

    on all 3

Hawaii was a blast with a 1 and 3 yr old(95% of the time)

We took a cruise that ported in Maui overnight and i had forgotten how boring it was there. We also ported at the big island and to be honest if you want tropics and quiet time thats the place to be be.
