Default NOW what do I do?

Sitting at home, bored...and a horrifying thought just crossed my mind.

I buy my favorite soya sauce in 483ml bottles.

For years I would take out the tin foil seal and then would have to use my thumb to "sprinkle" the soya sauce over my food. After 20 years of doing that, my FIL says "why don't you just poke a small hole in the tinfoil?" Brilliant!!

But then we spied a great deal at Sobeys:

But now....I'm gonna have to break the tinfoil seal to re-fill the bottle! And the glass jars are way too small! I use a shitload of soya sauce. the last beyonder who worked for me used to laugh at how much soya sauce I used. (Hi Wes!!)

Save a cap from one of the normal bottles, drill holes in that, and use it as the pouring cap? That would be a bit more work as you'd have to unscrew, screw, pour, unscrew, and screw again. Unless you can just leave the soya sauce open to air (leaving the holed cap on) without any consequences.

Otherwise, use saran wrap or the smallest "food hat" (stretchy shower cap looking things) you can find over the holed cap?

BTW I loved that soya sauce growing up lol. I always used poured soya sauce into the cap and used that to measure. There was the odd spill, but then it just meant I had to eat more rice

Or even simpler, use one of those other soya sauce containers that are squat and have holes on two sides? I think those are constantly open to atmosphere so the drilled hole cap option probably works too. Or use an old spice shaker with smaller holes haha. Make custom label, and bam!

I have an old 450ml glass VH soya sauce bottle with the little plastic dropper cap. Not sure if that brand still uses glass bottles, but I've been using mine for at least 15 years now (it even came with me when I moved).

I have an old kikomman bottle that I bought the year I moved out on my own. I refill it from the 2L bottles. Easy.

So when you have guests over, do they all use their own thumbs?

You know what this reminds me of? The white people who eat sushi and fill up their entire sauce dish with soy sauce up to the rim. They end up not using 95% of it, and I don't even know how they even dip the sushi in it without it spilling over.

We have that too - 1 old kikomman and refill with 10+ china lilly bottles. It's worth it Dave - like having your own private chinese restaurant but with good soya sauce.
That's not sweat. It's your fat, crying.
