He should have just done what every normal person does, turn to alcohol.

Oh noes, I has a kid and a career! I better fake my own disappearance? That makes tons of sense. Guys either very weak minded, or he just wanted to go on a bender.

Gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. We've all considered it at some point or another. Just the way it is.

You've considered faking your own disappearance and leaving a wife and newborn behind? Can't say I've ever thought of doing that, and I don't even have a kid.

If I wanted out of my home life, I'd man up and do it proper, not slink away like a pussy.

LOL exactly.. I'd TELL my wife up front I've had enough of this shit and need to go to Vegas to get it on with 5 hookers every night and will be back in a few days. See ya.

But to walk and fake your own disappearance.. I dunno my theory is either he's severely whipped or still wants to live the college/bachelor no responsibilities life. Obviously regrets getting married and having kids at 25.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

Nononono, not leaving the family behind. What I meant is we've all wanted to get away at some point this guy just did it all wrong.

Not that I condone this guy's behavior, but this guy was and is in a situation where there is a no win scenario where he basically faced ex-communication from his friends and family no matter what he did. He made a rash choice which he saw as the only way out given the extremely limited information he had.

I think what he did was completely idiotic and cowardly, but having worked with a Mormon guy when I was in high school I can say the make their kool-aid pretty strong and there aren't really alot of resources to help you get out if you wanted to. Nobody will cover that angle of the story though and unfortunately nothing will be learned.

Did he really "fake" his own disappearance? I got the impression that he just wandered off and didn't tell anyone. Everyone at home freaked out when looking for him. Unless I missed some details here I don't think he tried to cover anything up. He just left.

I'd say he did fake it because they found the car in the industrial area with:

    1. Window broken
    2. Wallet and Phone in Car
    3. Cigarettes (he doesn't smoke)

Unless the car was stolen from the hotel he was hiding out in.

The details seemed to imply he faked it (smokes on the seat, smashed window, bruises) unless he actually got punched, and someone happened to try to break in to his car after he abandoned it. I could be missing details.

Anyway, who knows, but the thing with mental disorders or when depression go "too far" is you don't think normally. Obviously, if you're strong-willed, you have a further threshold, and if you're smart, you realize early on that you need to fix things pronto before bad things happen.

Just a guess, he may have just wanted to 'be heard' (in a similar vein to some school shooters, people who commit suicide on the net, etc.), except unlike those situations, he knew he wouldn't escape. It was just easier to do this than to bring it up with someone.

To me it sounds like he flaked somewhat consciously but at this point, it's all assumptions based on limited information, even for his family.

THe police confirmed he planted all the evidence himself, including the broken window. I'd guess that when the police make an official press release with those statements, they'd be pretty sure what exactly happened based on their investigations.
I hope they lay mischief charges. They say he COULD be facing jail time.
The police took members away from a murder investigation to look for him. Helicopters and planes were used as well.
    Stupid little punk.

Screw jail time, that just gives him more time away from home.

Sometimes jail can be better than a home life situation, like a fat nagging possibly pregnant controlling bitch for example... I'd take jail over that anyday. The shit some women pull is nothing short of torture and abuse too. Only because we're men and it's psychological as opposed to physical abuse the woman is the victim no matter what. I'm not condoning his behavior but I think his wife's behavior and overall home situation might provide some insight as to what set him off.

Thats a lot of weird stuff to plant.

Wasn't there reports of another guy driving his car? Maybe he decided to play for the other team for a night and shit got crazy so he decided to say he "faked" his disappearance instead of trying to think of an excuse for playing gobble.

I dunno, that seems to make for a way better made for tv movie.

Exactly. really weird. premeditated even. guy knew what he was doing by ditching the car in the NE. i mean, if you're gonna fake your kidnapping and murder, NE is definitely the place to plant the evidence.
