Default Another "Help me choose my next car" thread

So... I'm looking at purchasing myself a "nice" car (keep in mind, my history so far has included a 1986 Chevy Caprice Classic estate, 1990 Honda Civic DX Sedan, and currently a 1994 Mazda 626 DX sedan) now that I have a decent job and a steady income.

My budget for this purchase is a maximum of $10k

I would like to get into something a little sportier, but still decent for Calgary weather, so no NSX's... yet :P

    My thoughts are:

    -Subaru Impreza 2.5RS
    -Acura RSX Premium/Type S
    -Mazda 3/6
    -Hyundai Tiburon GT/SE
    -Dodge SX2.0 Regular / R/T

    Along those lines.

I am comfortable buying either private sector or second hand dealership/primary dealership used lots.

While $10k is my maximum, naturally, the more "bang for the buck" I can get from any vehicle purchase, the better.

I would appreciate suggestions for a "Fun, but not ridiculous" vehicle made this century

EDIT: I should mention, I am looking for manual transmission preferred

Hrmm... good thought. Reliable, good power and torque, and comes both as sedan and coupe. And I have a bit of a soft spot for Hondas >_> Added to the research list

    e46 330 coupe or sedan?

Maintanence will be more than a japanese car but you get RWD, great chassis etc. Just find a real clean, full service records type.

This one would be perfect if it was a manual but gives you an idea

That was going to be my real suggestion. You can get fairly new ones for under 10k easily.

    Vagabond,

you see a lot of 08 or sometimes 09 s/c'd cobalts for sale right around that price depending on kms

it would be the quickest of all those cars on your list too, decent sound system and simple car

    Vagabond,

I PM'd you something quick just a moment ago. Just wanted to see if that was something you could be interested in. I have way more positive things to say about it if I know you are interested. Just didn't want to make it a long message.

Also, I think something you should consider is upkeep (and even gas mileage). I wouldn't recommend getting a 10+year old, high mileage BMW or something similar.

I'd look for something that needs nothing, great shape with lots of life left, and if it comes with extras (like wheels, bumpers, extra OEM equipment), all the better. I think that fits into your "best bang for the buck" part.

Just buy another Civic and call it a day. It's right up your alley.

Acura TL is very nice and can be found for <$10k:

http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ450624343 (If you're good at bargaining, you can work your way down to $10-10.5k)

This guy wants bang for his buck and good reliability (which he'll be used to from his last two cars) and you goofs come in and tell him to get a 10 year old BMW
