    Default transplanting trees

I found a gov site that allows you a permit to dig up trees and replant them.

Has anyone used this service? Is it worth it?

Seems like trees over 10' are over 200 each.

Where are your trees located? I don't believe SRD needs to be involved if you're in the city. I called the 311 line and was told I only needed to do the AB 1 call for line locating.

I think they are talking about going into the woods and digging up a tree and planting it in their yard?

Why would you want to do this? Your tree selection will be very limited because you'll have to pick native trees, many of which aren't really suitable for urban sites.

Also, you'll need a crane to put it into your yard, presuming they have access, and you'll have to have a vehicle that can handle the weight of such a tree.

There are a number of nurserys that can help you with this for less hassle and less cost than getting something out from the forests. Bow Point Nursery specializes in native and hardy species, and they are very knowledgable.

There is a tree farm just out by Spruce Meadows. You`ll very likely have to wait until the ground thaws, but their pretty damn reasonable. They have the equipment to transplant whatever tree you like into your yard.
    Call Decade 90 at http://www.decade90.com/
Their prices are quite reasonable too.
