It's funny, they are selling like hot cakes in both Canada and the US.

I guess people care more about the 3 pointed star than the content then.

I sort of agree with CR though. While I wouldn't call it a Civic (I'd happily trade mine for one haha), I really wasn't impressed with it inside compared to other similarly priced vehicles when I compared them all at the car show. The CLA45 is a different story because you're paying mostly for the excellent performance. Lots of CLA reviews seem to be very ho-hum. It came in last in C&D's recent comparo as well:

Seen quite a few on the road already and I'm surprised that the CLA250 can be pretty peppy.

That said A3 seem to have a wider public appeal in US at least:

    IS 3,780 +102.3%
    A3 2,159 +3,825.5%
    Regal 2,106 +20.6%
    CLA 1,575
    TSX 880 -47.8%
    1/2series 727 +16.1%
    Verano 3,409 +.5%
    ILS 1,690 -15.8%; hybrid 49 -59%
    CT 1,054 -13.5%

C&D also said their A3 didn't have shift paddles....I'm pretty sure every A3 I've been in, even the 1.8T, had paddles. Am I missing something?

Also that 228i getting into the 4 second 0-60 bracket is impressive.

I believe paddle shifters are not standard for the A3 in the states, they don't even get the flat bottom steering wheel.

I've been spotting the white CLA45 daily in the mission area.

Got my deposit back a while ago, I was told that I'd probably get the first 2015 had I stayed with it, oh well.

MB can't make enough CLA's to meet demand, sales numbers are going to continue to suffer in the medium term. They're running the Hungary plant to full capacity to help, but it's a bandaid fix.

    http://www.autonews.com/article/2014...des-cla-output

Things won't be fixed until the Mexico plant opens in 2018.

As for the CR comments, I haven't driven the CLA250, but I could see it being boring compared to RWD cars. They have a great point with the pricing too, the CLA optioned up is priced like a 3 series, one level up. This is going to be an oddity until everyone else moves stuff upscale.

But yea, it's crazy people are buying CLA250's faster than they make 'em. Not sure what the huge appeal is. The AMG, I get it, the 250? Not so much.

My guess is for the same reason people seemed to buy the C230 Kompressor, which was basically so they could say "Yeah, I drive a Mercedes". I remember going to high school with a girl who bought a used POS C230, and would always park it diagonally across 2 stalls .

A cool looking 4 door coupe that has tri star badge and cheap. I would pick it over and mid size FWD sedans in the same price range.

That shows you MB was right on creating a sedan/coupe for NA because B class is in the same price range and not getting as much love.

She was, especially since she would do that in the closer of the two parking lots to the school.

Haha I have no idea, the only reason I knew who she was is because of her d-bag parking habits, but I certainly hope so .

I see quite a few CLA's around and have to say they look quite nice definitely gets a double glance from me . It's a total budget baller car and see how ppl just wanna look rich MB did a good job there.

I was in BMW a few weeks ago and basically everyone in the lounge was Chinese.
    Ballers, ballers everywhere. Can't compete.

    2019 A45 to be 400 HP.
Wonder if we'll get it in Canada, or at least maybe on the CLA/GLA platforms. Number seems realistic considering the GLA is already 375 HP.

    Crazy... 200 HP/L.

MB USA claims the next gen A class will make it here, but who knows, US doesn't really love hatchbacks but if the A class was designed from the start to be US compliant it can't cost too much more. There's also a GLB coming as well, a mini G Wagon 7 seater SUV which is why the MFA2 platform is longer than the current MFA platform. Everyone gets bigger to accommodate the GLB. As for the 400hp, there were rumors of the MFA2 AMG drivetrain being the first one to get an AMG hybrid setup.

So, A45, CLA45, GLA45 and GLB45 with 400hp by 2017. Maybe with hybrid power assist.
