Staircase at Back of Home

I'm looking at building a completely custom 2-storey home (~2100 sq ft) and was toying with the idea of having the open riser staircase at the back of the house, instead of the front or center.

Are there any cons or pros? I haven't seen something like this in a showhome yet, so I'm thinking there must be a reason???

It would be beside the great room and across from the dining area.

I think its a great looking pending the layout...Whats your exposure in the back yard?

I have a NE exposure for the back yard. we will be designing the windows to work with the staircase.
