    Default CMA entrance exam/SLP

I was wondering if anyone went through this process and how everything worked. I recently sent in my transcript and told I was able to exemp the exam because of my grades. Later on I received a confirmation that I have been changed from the status of Associate to Candidate. What do I do now? They said I have to start paying my $460+tax dues immediately but my balance says $0.

Anyone going into the next SLP?

Do you have a job right now? If yes then start your SLP ASAP. once you start to do your SLP you need to pay the dues.

I think the exemp will last for 2 years since your transcript evaluation.

Does it really matter how long it lasts? Isn't this year the last year to even start a CMA designation due to everyone becoming a CPA?

So fall of this year.. I would register right away but I need some time to save some money for the $3600 fee to enter the SLP. I already have student loans and I would like to pay for a good chunk of that before I enter the program.

EG6BOI, did you get your transcripts evaluated yet?

    Got this from the Coordinator:

    Hi ep3,

The last SLP intake will be the Winter intake which will begin sometime in December 2013/January 2014.

Not yet, but my marks are high enough to be exempted from the entrance exam. This is my last year so I am trying to get a company to put me through the SLP instead. I was looking closely at Husky because apparently they offer in-house CMA program?

But if no luck with employment that wants to pay for my program, I'll just enter into it this November with a loan.

Do you have accounting experience at all? It's hard to get into a lot of companies w/o it. That's my problem, even though I can go directly into the SLP as well.

Having the same problem trying to find an entry-level/junior position with zero experience. Although I still need to fulfill a few of the prerequisites before I can write the entrance exam.

Yeah, I don't have any accounting experience so it makes it that much more difficult to get a job. Hopefully someone can look past that! lol

Isn't one of the requirements to graduate from the SLP is to have management experience? Something like that?
