So if I lose my job and get my Internet cut off, I can't become a pot head and play xbox? I'm pretty sure I read earlier in this thread Internet connection was mandatory but didn't think too much about it. Is the ps4 the same? I'd rather play mlb the show anyways. Haha

Internet connection isn't mandatory. You only need Internet to play your games if your games are digital downloads, and you gave away your home Xbox rights to someone else to share games.

not quite true.

I can't log in. because of this, I cant watch Netflix, I can't play ANY of my games, including games that I purchased digitally like Minecraft...Basically, my XB1 is a giant paperweight right now.

I cannot access my offline be a gm on NHL 15. Can't even start a new one as it can not save being not connected. I could play against a buddy or whatever, but I don't play any of the modes that need Internet. I wouldn't care if I could play and not get "accomplishments" but this might go the route of my 360. Seldom used bedroom dvd player.
P. S the only digital games I have are the 2 assassin's creed that came with it. That I only play while other games are installing haha.

That's because xbl is being attacked. Unplug your network cable or disable wifi. You'll be able to log in locally and play your games.

For games that need online stuff, they won't work.

Apparently Kim Dotcom wanted to play his multiplayer games and bribed Lizard Squad to stop attacking on Boxing Day, which they did. XBL recovered right away, no clue why but it took 2 more days for PSN to recover.

Microsoft recommends that you plug directly into the wall NOT a power bar.

This is because it has its own surge protection.

One Year Later

Xbox One, has been out for a year and 1 month now.
Can someone give me a brief review, like how it is after the 1st year?
and is it still worth buying or shall i just wait til the price drop?
I'm mostly gonna play EA Sports games on it. Is XB1 the way to go?
