When I had a 1TB portable attached to my XBox, I leave my XBox in standby, and it could download in standby mode just fine. I'm not sure if turning it off completely affects it though, as I've never tried.

I turn my xbox completely off and it seems the hdd stays on. The light was blinking after I turned it off.

Not sure about the XB1 as it's on 24/7 for me. On the 360 when you turn it fully off it stays in standby mode, blinks the power light, and continues downloading. Once downloads are complete then it shuts itself off. I'm guessing XB1 has the same behavior?

I know there is an option to turn the HDD off with the console in the settings, but I wasn't sure if then that ruins standby downloads or not. I will need an HDD regardless, but having it on all the time would probably make me go to the WD desktop drive over the portable drive.

i look everyday. i really like the white Sunset Overdrive Bundle because of the white. but not sure on the game. been selling a few things to raise some funds.

Depends which game you want. Sunset with 1TB external would be cheaper than COD bundle.

I was just at Costco and they have the 3tb desktop or 2tb portable for 120 each. I believe they are both 5400 rpm drives so I guess it is if you care about power consumption and another ac adapter to get 50% more storage for the same price.

Yeah, I took the 3TB desktop option. The power draw will be minimal, but I'll never have to worry about storage again.

Question for you guys, since I don't have an XB1 anymore. I had the launch edition for about a week before deciding that I just didn't need another system at that time with a million xbox 360 games still to be played sitting sealed in my basement...but for the short time I did have it, I noticed that the controller range wasn't that good and it would constantly cut in and out.

My 360 sits In the basement, and I usually play on my main floor TV, so the controller works through the floor no issues. With XB1, it would work, but then cut in an out all the time. Recently I saw that Microsoft released some updates for the controllers, and I thought I saw it mention something about addressing these issues. Anyone care to comment if they found anything, or if the controller updates actually fixed the issues?

I am thinking of getting an XB1 again but want to make sure it will work with my setup, as XB1 should be up upgrade from 360, but with the controller issues I had it didn't look like it at that time.

It still sucks for range. I get a disconnect or 2 per hour in the basement because the xb1 sits behind the wall. Upstairs xb1 is fine because I'm only 10ft away and it sits right in front of me in the av cabinet.

Lame, i assume you didn't have this problem with the 360?

Likely due to wifi direct running on normal frequencies? Interference wont help things.

Within my TV room (~15-20 feet from console) mine works great.

Zero problems with the 360. It's sitting on the same rack. There is no 2.4Ghz interference in the basement, my wifi points down there has 2.4Ghz disabled.
