    Default Dive watch question

    Hey guys

My dad just gave me this watch
    https://www.google.ca/search?q=invic...sp%3B311%3B400

I read the entire wiki on dive watches and it explained in detail every characteristic except that extra long red hand that points to 1-24. At first I thought it was giving me military time by the hour but its completely wrong and there is no way to adjust it. The dial adjusts the minute hand and the date. Somebody fill me in?

EDIT: Just to clarify I didn't really specify, the hand points to what looks like military time with 1-24, 24 overtop 12:00, the numbers are on the inside of the angular piece surrounding the bezel. They may be hard to see in the google picture. The problem is, it doesn't point to the correct hour, I have not noticed a pattern other than it moves clockwise.

    That hand is a GMT

It allows the watch to track a second time some or track the same time zone in 24 hour time.

It will go around once every 24 hours.

EDIT: You were right in your assumption that it could show military time. Try pulling the crown out to different levels, One of them should move that hand. It will move independent of your main hour hand, So you can have it on a completely different time zone from the one you live in or are travelling in etc.

I knew it! Problem is that I have tried pulling out the crown there is only two levels and thats minute hand and date. How in the hell do I adjust this?

Each model is different. Try turning the crown the opposite direction when you have it pulled out to the date level. I know some watches where that is how you adjust it.

Good suggestion, but nope, the date just skips back and forth when I turn it backwards.

If the watch you have is the exact same one on the link you've provided, what happens when you push the corrector in?
Does it move the GMT hand?

Yes, it's that exact watch, color and everything. The corrector doesn't push in, it just spins freely when it's all the way in.

Can you specify? I held the button above the crown in and spun the crown while it was in. Do I pull it out to the date level and hold the button and spin it?

I thought that button was a helium release valve. Shows how much I know.

Right where the 10 is,... If its anything like my GMT watch,.. Just hold it in for 3+ secs and it should start moving on its own. Although my GMT watch has a button at the 20 and that is the one that controls the GMT.

If that doesn't work, closely look around the side of the case.

There may be a hex screw, that would be either a push button or, turn to adjust.

Sometimes: pull the crown out to the date selection,.. Turning one direction does the date and the other direction does the GMT.

If none of those things work, then you may be SOL.
I've seen some that the 24hr was fixed with the time.

Tried all of these things. While looking closely around the entire casing I saw it says Swiss GMT on the back. Does that mean its just locked to Swiss time? The arm is at 9:30 while its nearly 12 though sooooo... It's 6:56pm in Switzerland right now...

GMT=Greenwich Mean Time... so being fixed does make sense... but it should be 6pm right now

When you pop out the crown to adjust the time,.. does the gmt arm also move? if so, does it move in reverse?

There we go! Thanks a lot man.

Gotta pull the crown out one click and then press the button and she spins freely. I appreciate the help guys. I was beginning to think he gave me the watch because it was broken hahaha.
