Default Ticket for driving 63 in a 65 zone

Md. Woman Cited for Driving Too Slowly in Left Lane

According to citation, she had been driving 63 mph in a 65 mph zone -- but in the left lane.

    http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/lo...197285901.html

I'm all for tickets for slow drivers but this seems a little odd. 2mph difference.

    Misleading headline:
she was pulled over and cited for failing to move right.
She wasn't given a ticket for going 63, she was given a ticket for not getting out of the way of somebody behind her. I guess that's a law in Maryland.

EDIT: She might actually have a case. If you watch the video it shows she was charged under Traffic Act 21-301(b).

    http://policy.mofcom.gov.cn/english/...title-3-21-301
    http://law.justia.com/codes/maryland...itle-3/21-301/

    (b) Special rule for slow-moving traffic.- On every roadway, except while overtaking and passing another vehicle going in the same direction or when preparing for a lawful left turn, any vehicle going 10 miles an hour or more below the applicable maximum speed limit or, if any existing conditions reasonably require a speed below that of the applicable maximum, at less than the normal speed of traffic under these conditions, shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.
The law is explicitly worded to say "10 miles an hour or more below the speed limit" unless going the speed limit isn't safe, in which case it's 10 miles an hour or more below the speed of traffic.

While I completely agree with her getting ticketed, her ticket might get thrown out if they go by the letter of the law.

The officer should be given an award

i have a friend who got a ticket on highway 2 for the same reason, but he was going speed limit. the officer gave him a ticket for failing to obey traffic sign "slower traffic stay on the right" sign

One trip to Edmonton is all anyone needs to become absolutely infuriated with slow/oblivious left-lane drivers.

Its starting to spread to the whole road now. Yesterday I just turned onto highway 8 off Glenmore. Two lanes, right lane ends in about a km or so. But half the time people go 50km under the limit on the right lane and stay there until they have no choice but to get over. This slows the left lane down to let them in. Because merging with traffic is scary. Anyways, yesterday I am going in the right lane at about 75km/h, this minivan in front of me and this PT Cruiser in the left lane start playing "no you first, no you first" and BOTH rapidly slowed down to 40km to try and accommodate each other resulting in everyone slowing down and closing any gaps that could have been easy for me to get into. Drives me nuts.

And people who dont know what a mirror is.

Driving up to Edmonton in July, a lady in a rented Mustang cuts me off. Mind you I was only doing 120-125, but she was doing 110 on the nose. She cuts in the fast lane and proceeds to do 112 to pass another car doing 110. Took FOREVER to get around her. Then she gives ME the finger cause I was tailgating her because she cut me off.

I watched it happen to a guy next to me on the TransCanada in SK.

He was sitting in the left lane and didn't realize that there was a blacked out police Expedition behind him for a few kilometers.

Once we got to the point where there was no on next to him in the right land the Ford through on the lights and pulled him over.

I guess it COULD have been for something else, but it seems pretty unlikely.
