Mine won't lock down. The retract over 10 mph.

Guess I couldn't pull a fuse. Or maybe there is something in Forscan.

I'm in the same boat. Have the power running boards and definitely have concerns about them but so far they've been fine, i'm tempted just to lock them in the down position for the winter though.
The guys on the f150 forums are suggesting to use some type of silicone on the joints for preventive maintenance

Hmmm i wonder if mine will lock down, i dont recall seeing that option though. Either way i wouldnt want them locked down anyways, i paid for power boards so im going to take advantage of them until they get stuck lol

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

I specifically found a truck with no power boards because of the problems. The old school boards do a better job of protecting the rockers and I don't need to take care of them.

theirs a menu in your in dash menus for the running boards (if they are OEM) You can set them always up or down, or normal operation.

Ended up finding a unit without the power boards anyways!

Only decision left is whether or not to run dedicated winter wheels/tires from Ford or take the credit. Plan on leveling and adding KO2’s fairly soon which I have heard are good and also heard the stock Hankook Dynapro’s are decent so I am not sure if the dedicated winters are worth it.

    get the dedicated winters.

I run the KO2 right now, and while great on wet/dry/light unpacked snow, they are not very good on anything slippery.

This morning with the little bit of frost on the ground, the truck was breaking free a lot with very little throttle input on main roads and had me wishing I had gotten the studded winters on already. I need to make time to do the swap, but I need to find a taller jack.

I was set on getting the non power boards too but i couldnt resist after seeing them in the showroom because they look so damn slick lol. They were also only $950 from the dealer so worst case if they break after my warranty is up ill just take them off and get some non power.

I've only had my truck since feb 2 so nothing long term on the dyna's but ive done a couple board trips and they did really good in 4A when it was slick. Nothing will beat a dedicated winter but the dyna's are pretty good for an all season

Here is how mine work. But as soon as you drive 10km/h, they retract and the setting goes back to auto.

Thats odd that they even give you the option for them to stay out if they just retract after you drive.

I know this is the f150 thread but hows the expedition?

^ I had a platinum expedition for a rental last week and it is miles ahead of the Tahoe/Yukon Denali. I couldn't believe how much better it drove.

I have a buddy who's looking at potentially replacing his '08 F-150 with a 2018 Lariat w/ the 3.5L Ecoboost. Is there a preferred dealer in the Calgary/Airdrie area? Not sure if this is the right place to post.

I’ve always had great experience at advantage ford. Have a straight shooter of a sales guy if you want his name for your buddy. If your buddy is into the whole lift trucks thing and wants wheels and tires etc advantage does all that custom work right from the get to now.

Bought my last 2 vehicles from Woodridge. They have been pretty stellar there all things considered, and I am pretty sure I will buy my next truck there too. Let me know if you want contact details. Also, one of our very own works there (Sorath).

    I'd appreciate a name/reference. As far as wheels/tires/lifts thing, I don't think that's his thing.

It's awesome. Power delivery is great and it drives like a giant SUV should drive.
