I got the FX4 package, because it drove my lease rate down.
Yup. FX4 rebate made it a $500 cost but residual went up more than that... That's the only reason we got it though, otherwise literally zero need/want for it

Do you think the diesel will inherently last longer? Lots of gas trucks go a lot of miles nowadays.

Having recently shopped diesel 3/4 tons vs my F150, I realized how much happier I am in a gas truck.

And if you have the max tow, you are likely rated to tow 12k+. The ecoboost 3.5 has what, 400hp and 500tq? Practically same numbers as an older duramax.

Honestly just trying to help you with the choice, I think everyone should be in gassers unless towing heavy constantly.

And a good thread. Looks like an optioned crew cab 4x4 with 6.5 box would be ~2500lb payload based on the 4x2 being ~2700lb.

The locker is awesome. Oddly enough, even with the diff unlocked, doing a brake stand lights up both tires the entire time, dunno how the diff is setup.
Diesel definitely trend longer, and hold value better.. That is a good thread, thanks. Some impressive payloads... Making things like https://travelliterv.com/rvs/2021-su...truck-campers/ quite feasible

Figured I would do a little update on the truck.

The hybrid setup is really cool. I am still learning how to use the electric system effectively, and it has a pretty good built in coaching system.

Overall, I am still really impressed with the truck. Remember, the Powerboost has the smaller gas tank at 96L versus what I consider the "standard" 136L tank. Also the first ~350kms on the truck were bringing the truck back to Calgary, so there were no hybrid KMs, so the 110kms on electric power is roughly about 25% of my city driving. I am pretty excited about that, and I still have a 1/4 tank to go.

I am still in love with this truck, and I can't wait for engine break in to be completed so I can romp on the skinny pedal a bit to see what it is really capable of.

I want to dump mine but anything extra I make goes towards a more expensive replacement.

2017 3.5L currently in for 2nd leaky oil pan and 2nd cam phaser rattle.
First cam phaser rattle was at 30,000km, 2nd time it came around 73,000km.

When I looked at it, between prices going up, and lack of discounts, it was $10k higher "out the door price" right now vs 12-18 months ago.

Pretty steep for a mid/low level truck. definitely stuck between buying this or getting a GMC 2500 (somehow these have an extra 1000 lbs of payload vs the F250)

My advice is for everyone to buy new trucks. And I'm still offering $500 referral cash back to you if you use my guy at Cam Clark Airdrie.

Could save a ton of money on payload/$$ if you just got a base maverick

might be good to check if you have access to X-plan pricing as well through your employer or some other program.

It is part of what made my deal possible to get my new truck. With the lack of incentives, every $$$ helps. X-plan saved me about $8k off MSRP.

It should actually be a 115l tank isn't it? It's bigger than the 96L.

Oh neat, don't know when that changed but I confirmed with the Order Guide. Should be 26 gallons not 23 gallons in any supercrew that doesn't have the Extended range fuel tank which is 36 Gallons.

from a 3rd party (a local tuner) - I've heard a couple things about the 2nd gen that make me leary of looking at another ecoscrew... mostly that Ford's attempt to fix their VVT issues from the 1st gen may have made things worse... and more frequent reliablity issued when cranking out more boost.

NOT that I am defending the 1st gen - but he mentioned as long as you drill the weep hole or replace the IC with a built in valve, install a catch Can and replace the Timing chain w/ updated part, the motor can be tuned pretty hot and run reliability. He said whether in a Tarus SHO, Expedition or F150, with stock internals, he's seen stock turbo's with bolt ons and tune push 500 whp reliabily as hard ran daily drivers.

With the 2nd gen, his 2018 has had both timing chains replaced and once he started to do the same AFE type bolt ons (no turbo upgrades neither) and a custom tune, he ended up burning oil and needing a top end/ring job on 2 cylinders.

I love the Ecoboost and at some point need a new truck, but am thinking we'll see how the new Tundra fairs

If you've ever set foot in Cam clark and they have you in the system, I can't refer you. I can send you my guys name, but there's no referral cash for someone who's been in there before.

I don't know. If anyone wants a referral, you just need to PM me your real full name, email address and a phone number before you go in. Actually, if you buy vehicles the way I do, you should never go in until you are picking up your vehicle.
I give you $500 when I get my cheque, which is 2-6 weeks after you take delivery.

Email should be fine, I had previously live chatted with someone trying to get that lease deal and they basically ghosted me after a few minutes. That person's name was on the referral sheet but they just scratched it out.

One thing I absolutely hate about the new truck is the mirrors, they seem so wide compared to the previous gen. Didn't quite notice this until started parking in underground parking downtown. Also the A/C doesn't seem to blow as cold as the previous gen. But... im nitpicking here lol
