Odd. I ordered before that, and haven't heard anything. Oh well, no rush.
I didn't order with the work surface, front cams, or b/o unleashed or 20” rims. Not sure if any of those items are constrained but might be why my order got pulled earlier? Also ordered from what I think would be the highest volume dealer in my area so perhaps more allocation available.

Fair enough. I got all of those minus the work surface.

For anyone with the 2.7L EcoBoost, do you have to replace your oil drain plug when you get an oil change? My buddy says he does this, and I was shocked. I guess it uses some funky design that is different then the 3.5L EcoBoost engines. Fumoto doesn't sell a drain valve either it seems. Seems a guy could just replace that o-ring instead of the whole plug. in the USA they are $8 from the big dealerships that specialize in online parts sales. Never looked what they cost in Canada.

Mmm pretty sure you don’t gotta do that. And if it’s done I’m sure the dealership changes the o-ring. The only thing the 2.7 suffered from was a sweating oil pan. It’s actually probably the best engine in their lineup and doesn’t have much issues like the 3.5 and 5.0 (ie. cam phase issues with the 3.5 and oil consumption issues with 5.0)

Anyone know the part number for the o-ring? My buddy is smart, but not internet smart. Trying to help him with this stuff.

Agree the 2.7L is a great engine. it's fantastic.

Land rover is like that too. New drain plug with integrated o-ring for each oil change. Ive not changed it with no ill effects but usually pick one up every 2 or 3 changes.

I accidently bought a fumitomo as someone told me the 3.5 ecoboost model.would work. This thread got me thinking, so I looked around again and found this, I'll be ordering one.

If you want an oring, any bearing/seal shop can provide you one. Or just realize that at 16k between oil changes, its an extra $100 over 200k kms. You can cut that in half if you order in advance a bunch online.

Lots of shop monkeys break the plugs as they use pliers on them. There is a certain twisting method to getting them out, the first time I did it I thought it was way too difficult. Now its a breeze.

I did oil changes at 5k, 15k, 25k, and 35k is next month. Never replaced the plug or oring as a datapoint. I think breakage and leaking overall is an overblown concern from typical truck owners. "Real trucks have v8's, I'd be worried about them ther tubros wearing out on those baby motors, real oil pans/plugs are made out of god damn usa steel" etc

Is the Max payload not really a thing on the ecoboost with a 6.5 box? Seems like something that could be the ideal truck for me as a daily but could also take a truck camper...

2021 F-150 Payload chart attached below...
Max Tow does positively effect max-payload. The payload changes based on 4x4 / 4x2 box/cab size etc!

I'm at 80k km and heard this for the first time on my last oil change, it was at a mr lube and the guy comes to me and says i need a new plug, i told him this is the first ive ever heard of this and its been done here before. I declined thinking it was an upsell and the guy below my truck yells to the guy up top"does he know his truck will leak". When i got home i googled it and im pretty sure it says to replace each time

I'll bet they are expensive as fuck from Mr Lube. Buy them online and bring your own.

It was $10 i think. Its odd though that ive never heard of this yet from any of my oil changes, you'd figure the ford dealer would say something or at least i wouldve heard this everytime at mr lube since they always wanna upsell. Actually i should check to see if ford just charged me without telling me.

For the EB guys are you following the Oil life monitor? i was at first and i was getting around 15k kms before it was due but i heard a lot of people say to change the EB motor oil around 6k

What truck camper were you looking at? The truck camper market for half tons is getting very good.

The HDPP on the F150 has always been crazy rare. Usually special order only. But makes a cool truck. Probably what I should have. Maybe what I'll buy next.

I have gotten conflicting reports from different Ford Service Managers. it's about 50/50. Some say to change it every 8k kms, the others say that the truck will tell you when it needs an oil change. I finally got off my lazy ass and RTFM. the manual says every 16k kms, or when the truck says to, unless you live in the region of severe conditions, but don't really articulate what constitutes severe region weather or conditions. I have now adopted the strategy of doing a full synthetic change every 10-12k depending on the weather and if I have been towing. Truck usually says there is about 25% oil life left at that point.

Haven’t dug into it enough just trying to get a sense of what my ultimate rig would be as just bought a small boat (and can only double tow in AB with a 5th wheel and can’t go anywhere else... what have you seen? And not wanting something I can’t daily drive...

The only way to easily find this info (unless you get a salesbro that actually knows what they are talking about) is to look at individual window stickers.

Good Ford dealers link to the window sticker on their inventory. If they don't, I believe it is mandatory to post the VIN of new vehicles in the ad so it is not a bait and switch.

    https://www.windowsticker.forddirect...icker.pdf?vin=

The easiest way to do this search is to go to Ford.ca , search inventory with their system for the engine/body style you want, and then grab window.stickers.

Its awful, but at least you can find out if you are willing to do the legwork. I'd say its going to be rare, likely find a lot of max tow packages but not max payload. Also, in your situation, the 5.0L may be warranted as the mpg is quite a bit better under continuous load.
