the PDI process at most dealerships is a joke. I'd prefer if they didn't.
I'm not sure what the hell the PDI guys were doing on my truck, but I had scuff marks on the paint and dust all over the interior.
Ended up detailing the whole thing myself after I brought it home.

    .

If i was to stick the the F150 it would be almost identical to your setup.
Not that I'd ever say to overload a vehicle, but I did a lot of research (down to part numbers comparisons between vehicles) when buying my F150 2.7 with the 2.7 payload package.

There is no difference between the higher rated max payload trucks with the 5.0 or 3.5 and the 2.7 max payload trucks except for rear springs and possibly shocks.

Axle is the same (big 9.75"), gets the slight modifications to the front frame that are rumored to be different, etc.

Its a money grab with GVW's plain and simple to push people to buy the more expensive options/models. The 2.7 trucks even have updated tow capacities for 2021 (they are up to 10k I think? An extra 1000 or more over 2020 and older) with basically zero changes, and they only have an extra 100lbs of max gvw.

Again, I am not suggesting to overload the truck. But with a hellwig rear swaybar, airbags, and LT tires, I'd have no qualms about doing continuous 2500lbs total payload (gear, humans, etc) in one.

Its a much more capable truck then many 3/4 tons built since the 90's and 2000's.

the entire frame rails are different, and there is no front/back to them. The "upgraded" ones are thicker and IIRC, larger as well, and come standard with the powerboost. While I do agree with you that you could probably overload the truck and be ok, I don't think I would be comfortably overloading the truck by 1k+ lbs like you are suggesting.

An update to my personal truck, it has been built and is hopefully being loaded onto a train now. so, hopefully soon! The trackers I have been using are saying ETA is September 14th, but the dealer still thinks end of August. We shall see.
Also, in cruising the 14th gen forums, I did find another truck that is spec'd out pretty similar to mine, so I have a pretty good idea what mine will look like. Sexy AF! lol

Not really evidence of anything, but the only rear axle failure I’ve experienced in 30 years of driving has been my ‘16 F-150 running at max payload. Ring and pinion and bearings howling bad at 120,000 km. Plus the brakes have been terrible under load since day one. Will be happy to be back into a 3/4 ton for work, soon. Truck has a 5-leaf spring pack and Timbren overloads on the rear.

I hear third gen raptors are starting to show up.

Anyone want to unload their second gen?

    Haha

    And it’s gone? Wtf over.

Still booked Monday for a once over.
Update - came in again and then 2 days later gone.

Getting confused here whether it needs work or not.

    However - I towed a 5000lb Jayco 26’, and then family/supplies (around 6000-6200lbs).

The 2.7 with 3.55 rear, stock 275/55/20 did awesome. I’m super happy with the Performance.

Pretty flat road, 580km round trip, 102-112kph, on premium fuel - 25.4L/100km. If it was windy with hills I’d see 28-30 for sure.

Just like I remembered last time I towed. Those are my numbers. Shrug.

    Halp.

Somehow managed to cut/gouge the living shit out of the driver seat bottom on the 2yr lariat lease. Anyone know if some type of leather glue would work to keep it from getting worse. Dont really care cosmetically just want to minimize further damage.

Wat. Highest I see is 14000lbs for 2021 F150. Unless you are talking about GCWR?

Guys, I've had a long weekend, don't start trying to trick me into downloading the towing guides again and then cross referencing with the order guides. Schtaaapppp.

I should of held on to my raptor longer. They're selling for 2-5k less than they were brand new. Maybe those prices will come down a little when the gen3's hit lots but who knows.

I wouldn't get one unless it has the upgraded livevalve shocks that came in the 19/20. It's such a more refined ride over the 17/18 years.

    Good to know!

I would love one but for my lifestyle not sure I can stomach the size.

Finally going to pick my truck up tomorrow, it's been ready since late last week but I haven't been able to get down to pick it up.

    Finally!

I'll also be making a run down to Calgary from Red Deer and back up to the Edmonton area. So if anyone needs anything, I may be able to help.
