Check for any loose grounds near the transmission. Sounds like a position sensor/module down there might not be grounded? Especially since it is intermittent...

If they are all tight, maybe take a wirebrush and clean up some contact areas..

Those generations also have an issue with a wiring harness that goes over the front crossmember wearing through the wiring loom and grounding out... but that usually shows up as a battery issue

I thought he was stuck at home with it. I guess it’s stuck somewhere else, not the easiest place to troubleshoot. His brother in law is a Subaru mechanic and it’s not simple enough for him to fix on the side of the road.

I just want fullscreen android auto. I just want OTA updates to work, so I can get that. I asked them to look at it today while it was in for the windshield wiper recall (that they made a mistake on last time, so this was them resolving that), and they told me they would.. When I picked it up, they never even looked at it, so it's booked to go back again next week.

    Which dealer?
Had Universal fix mine but since it's a 2017 it's out warranty. Haven't had any issues since.

My buddy that can’t get his started, that has had the lead frame replaced in the transmission is now getting the transmission valve body replaced. Apparently there is a shortage of lead frames, the valve body has it included and the mechanic thinks it’s something in the valve body. $2300 to do the job after spending $2000 last summer to do the job.

Has anybody found a good replacement for the two piece lug nuts? A bunch of mine are swollen and it’s getting bad enough I should really replace them instead of just saying I will and then forgetting about it for another 6 months. I’m hoping to find some decent one piece replacements that a) don’t rust up after a year of use and b) have a seating surface similar in size to the OEM lugs (some of the aftermarket offering I’ve come across seem to have a greatly reduced seating surface area which perhaps isn’t that big of a deal but still doesn’t sit well with me).
