Agree you should keep records if you get oil changes anywhere but the dealership. I mean you can change you oil at home and maintain your factory warranty if you choose to keep records.

I'm mostly just busting your balls. I sometimes use dealer for maintenance as well.
Eh, dealers aren’t best I agree.

However, On my commuter/every situation pathfinder - I take it to fish creek Nissan for oil.

For $94 OTD I get synthetic change, a car wash, and I wait so I down a couple of lattes from the machine. 45 min in and out.

You can’t go wrong for the price.

    It’s the 79.99 synthetic special.

But this is a Ford thread so GTFO with that. Got it.

Exactly, this is a Ford thread. So you have to book it in for a full day, and then they don't bother calling you when it's done.

Yeah, that's the issue I have with Woodridge. They want me to drop it off in the morning. Problem is that I'm deep NW, and unless they want to shuttle me, I have no way to drop it off. At least with Northstar, it's walking distance, and how badly can they fuck up a warrantied leased F-150? At this point, ya'll have me debating just doing it myself.

Cam Clark has the quick lane service. I think that's a no appointment, 1 hour kind of deal, isn't it?

So based on the maintenance schedule in the manual, I only need oil changes every 12-16k, and every 12 months max. I'm only at 6 months and 3k, so I guess I don't really need to bother. Woodridge just scheduled it when I took delivery, which is why I'm even concerned. I guess I'll leave it be.

I'm at about 7 months and 7500 kms and am now just looking to schedule in an oil change and tire rotation. Oil % is showing around 55% on the dash. Need to get the DOA inverter replaced and rear brake squeal addressed as well.

Have you considered Mr Lube or another quick lube place? Dealerships suck.
Those places charge more then the stealerships…

Just a heads up on the Oil Life Monitor. I think on all of these trucks, you'll get the "schedule service soon" note around 11.5 months regardless of kilometers driven or other factors.

The one thing the quick lube places are good at is being quick. If no lineup, 20 minutes tops. I haven't done an exhaustive survey of prices. Wouldn't surprise me if they were no cheaper than dealerships.

Back in the day, Honda dealers had a great deal on full synthetic 0W20 oil changes. Same price and conventional (was $65 I think) because they said they got the oil subsidized by honda corporate.

You can just show up but with no appointment the wait can be nasty, even with an appointment its about an hour.

This is just from what ive read on the ford forums but if you have the 3.5 EB you should be changing it way sooner than that, most say around that 5-6k mark.

I'm on those forums too. I don't take that advice.

Early oil changes are never going to hurt anything but your wallet, so they are frequently recommended. They could help, and won't hurt, so it's a safe recommendation. Particularly from the people who make money on your oil changes.

Now, quantifying the benefits is a really tough, potentially impossible, so you need to make the decision for yourself. I dunno. I don't stress too much about it.

    exactly true.

Follow the service manual that the manufacturer recommends, and use the recommended supplies. after that, it doesn't matter what the dealers tell you and they can eat shit.

If you want to do it earlier for your peace of mind, that's fine too. After reading my service manual, it explicitly states that the truck will tell you when to change your oil and is smart enough to monitor time, mileage, temperatures, moisture, etc. So, with that in mind, I run my truck until is says I have about 25% oil life left which is usually about 12-13,000 kms.

my truck just hit 110,000 km and I honestly don't even know where the engine oil dipstick is. One good way of seeing how long you can go between changes.. look at the oil lol. or get all fancy and do an analysis but fuck that

while I don't dispute the oil life indicator calculations, it doesn't factor the Direct Injection fuel dilution challanges that existed with at least the 1st gen ecoboost.

I use full synth every 6-7K and FL500S filter or the Mobil 1 extended life filter
