Anyone have the 2.7? I see a lot of nice, low km 2.7s for sale but I'm wondering if they have enough power? I would be daily driving the truck and only using it to tow a few times a year (ski boat + trailer for ~4,000lbs of weight + gear)
The way my sales guy explained it to me is the 2.7 vs 3.5 is like the 3.5 vs 3.5 H.O (raptor/limited). I have driven the 3.5 H.O and until you get up in the rev range and some weight behind it there isn't a big difference in feel, and a tuned 3.5 walks away from the H.O. I know lots of guys who run the 2.7 and its got plenty for normal use. Seems more and more are going the 2.7 route as you can get more truck for less.

    It really is.

the 2.7L EB setup is plenty for 95% of the population buying 1/2 tons. It has plenty of power to move the truck, and tow small to mid sized holiday trailers, and do the weekend warrior stuff. Gets good mileage. The only real reasons to get the 3.5L over the 2.7L is if you are hauling heavier loads / trailers.

I agree, for what it is yes its a great option. I wouldn't want to push its towing limits, but doesn't sound like that's the application so that seems irrelevant. Ford definitely has a lot of engine options for just the F-150 which is nice to see....still bitter about the 6.2L leaving but what do ya do

Exactly, I think when my wife's CRV comes due next year, she wants a 1/2 ton, I am going to order a 2.7. As much as she loves the Raptor its just such a terrible purchase for the use.

Ford rates the 2.7L much lower then the 3.5L for towing anyway, so you stay within your rating and you are GTG.

I read the 5.0 is being dropped for an all new 4.8L V8, along with the EV model, so 2 new powertrain choices for 2021. Not too pumped to hear they are going to the 13" infotainment screen like Dodge however.

EDIT: forgot to put the EST. HP is 420/420 or so

what a time to be alive! Truck engine choices are amazing. Even the 3.3L V6 is incredible compared to what was around in the early 1990's.

What did everyone pay for their F-150? I've always wondered if I actually got a good deal, a great deal or a meh deal on mine.

    Full Price of New
    MSRP $71,499.00
GST $1,874.95 (inclusive of trade in credit)
    Dealer Fees $649.00
    Spray In Bed Liner $483.00
    Extended Warranty $3,465.00
    Grand Total $77,970.95

    I Paid
    Adj. Retail $53,277.00
GST $1,142.60 (inclusive of trade in credit)
    Dealer Fees $649.00
    Spray In Bed Liner $-
    Extended Warranty $2,022.30
    Gift Card $(250.00)
    Grand Total $56,840.90

This is for a well equipped 2018 3.5EB, 502A. I also got about $1000 more on trade than I was able to get for my 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 while trying to sell it privately.

I got my 2019 for a little cheaper than that. I got a 3.5L 502A with sport package, and moonroof etc out the door for $54k. I didn't get the extended warranty and I had a few K in equity from my 2016. I will post more specific numbers when I go out to the truck next and can grab my paperwork.

YOLO bros, the best deal is the one that gets you into a new truck fastest. I'm mad jelly from the seat of my Honda Fit.

    Yep I think so.

It can’t have Nav, or the 20s or the sport package. Easy!

Metro might still have that truck for 41 +tax. Magnetic colour, 2019. MSRP 58,249.

It's been ages since I've bought a new vehicle.

Currently looking at F150's with the 2.7 supercab and a 6.5 box. Does not need to be loaded, XLT with a couple creature comforts is all it needs.

I have one priced out to order from the factory for $43k plus gst. This is the base 300a XLT with:

    Center console
    Trailer mirrors
    Remote start
    Payload package

    Seems pricey? MSRP is $51.5k

Pricing is inline with carcostcanada, but I've heard its a sham nowadays

Sure it is. The dealers have their hands in it, which is why they never refuse to honour the price, because they help set the CCC numbers.

Also, that is a nice truck, but spring for the 302A package too. It will help immensely with release down the road, and the comforts that come with it are totally worth it. The extra few bucks a month are what is really gonna make you love the truck.

Whatcha putting in that 6.5' box? Consider springing for the "2.7L Payload package" gets you different gearing and springs.

Or get real big boy and get the 3. 5L with HDPP, but that's crazy rare.

The 2.7L engine is fantastic. Shockingly powerful.
Check the tire/payload sticker in the door though, many are neutered with crazy low payload packages for comuter duty.

It'll be used as a split for my personal vehicle and business which seems to keep the truck bed loaded down regularily and completely full.

By "payload package" I did indeed mean the 622 option for the 2.7 specific HD payload package which should get me 2160lb payload. Which is very rare, I've only found one on the lot in Canada with supercab and 6.5 box but a stripper model, hence the likely factory order.

The 3.5 would be nice, but I need the mpg of the 2.7, and I'm confident it will meet my needs. I'm a chevy guy, but Ford has really knocked it out of the ballpark with this gen. Test drove a buddies 2018, was very impressed.

Don’t stress out about a model with lower payload. You can get Standens or other suspension shop to put in a 5-leaf spring pack in it expensively. My ‘16 Supercab XLT has a Spacekap on it and weighs around 7500 lbs normally, ride is great and not near the bump stops. E-load tires are a given as the factory rubber is just to move the truck from the factory to the dealership.
