Metro Ford is booking four months out now for cam phasers and timing chain repair on 3.5 ECoBoOsT

Isn't metro ford one of the smallest service departments in the city? I mean, it's not good, but . . . .

They are the only Ford dealer I have a relation with, but in this case I’m going to let Universal look at it too.

Woodridge, Metro and Universal are the three I’ve had the worst dealings with so far, Maclin also not great but not as bad as the first three, Northstar and Advantage no real data.

I can't really recommend anywhere good. I think Northstar also has a bad rep, although it's been a decade since I attempted to use them. Have I ever mentioned I hate dealership service departments?

Advantage always treated me well when I lived there. I only ever had one issue, and it was because of a salty service advisor. After that it was pretty smooth sailing.

Marlbrough was really helpful a few years ago doing some diagnostic work on a 7-pin trailer connector that I didn't have time to look at. I ended up doing to fix myself, and they were really good to work with.

Universal are pretty crap to deal with outside of my one sales bro

Since Kaizen bought them over, they've been restructuring every 5 minutes, not surprising that no-one knows what goes where

I've been to Marlborough Ford for a few parts here and there, but the only thing I got done there service wise, was an oil change and recall work. Had a good experience.

Northstar I hear mixed reviews on, I know @tirebob has used the Cochrane one for his Fords...

Yeah so far I have had two new vehicles bought through Northstar in Cochrane and they have done well. My F150 was almost out of warranty and was in for an oil change and they found a leaky pinion seal and went ahead and replaced it under warranty now questions asked. That is all that has happened with that truck in almost 160,000km.

My 2019 Escape is in right now with an issue of fluids getting into the cylinder and it is being assessed and repaired under warranty. Not finished yet but so far it all seems to be going smoothly.

Overall for a dealership experience, it has been decent.

What do you guys recommend for tow straps?
Thinking about keeping one in the truck in case of an emergency or if I have to pull out a stuck family member.

I bought this one. Someone can tell me whether it's good or not.

First rule of tow straps is don't hook up to any strangers car, ever for any reason.
Second rule is get one with no metal on the ends.

    These will work:

That one is nice as it has the D rings already included.
Seems too cheap but I'll read up more on it before I pull the trigger.

Agreed! Which is why I'll only use it for my self or to help out family members.

Second rule is get one with no metal on the ends.
    What's the reasoning for this?

Eventually, the strap will become damaged, or worn, or just used on something that's too heavy, and the metal becomes a lethal projectile when the strap breaks. I probably paid too much attention at all the company safety meetings discussing this, but that's the reasoning anyway.

Honestly, most vehicles smaller than a half-ton have nowhere decent to hook up a strap anyway, which is why it's my strong preference to taxi the humans to safety and leave recovery of vehicles to processionals whenever possible. But I know there's times when it doesn't seem reasonable. I carry a tow strap and I do use it every few years. There was one or two beyond members who used to go out looking for people to pull out after a big snowstorm, and while I'm sure they had fun, it seems risky.

I'm not much fun at parties.

Figured that would be the reason.
First thing I thought of but I asked because I thought I was just being too paranoid.

I applaud those guys doing it but I definitely won't be going around doing that.
Huge liability issue but if you get the person stuck to hook up their vehicle instead of you then it's all free game.

@Mas ked_bandit already commented on this before and it is fine.

So whats the general consensus on first gen raptors?

After watching the straightpipes do their reviews on the 'highest mileage' raptor in canada I couldnt help but be intrigued by the thought of a 6.2L raptor. Maybe 150-200k kms?

    Terrible idea? Great idea?

I haven't come across anything specifically, but I haven't heard of any real common issues. they seem pretty solid. But again, I haven't gone looking for anything.
