I picked up some Toyo GSI-6 winters on rims yesterday and it looks like I did just in time. Driving on my nearly dead KO2s to get them was a bit dicey. Does anyone have any first hand experience or tips to take off these stupid two piece lugnuts that always swell?

My 2017 is back at the shop for the 3rd time in a year and a half due to a leaky oil pan.
Anybody else here with the same issue?

According to the dealer it's not a big leak but enough to sweat/accumulate around the gaps.
All covered by warranty but still a massive inconvenience dropping off the truck and leaving it there overnight while the silicone cures.

here is a tip - replace them. The chrome will break off and use a smaller metric socket...

These stupid two piece things are like $10 per... I was at the ford counter and the guy there was whispering... "go to costco"... I was like "what?" "go to costco".

Ford sells a one piece one (little heavier albiet) for $1.40 per.

Oh yea these pieces of shit are getting replaced. I just didn't realize I could break the outer shell off but thats what I ended up doing. The cheapest one piece Ford had was open ended at like $3.06 or if I was a glutton for punishment they had the two piece ones for $5.50 each I think. I ended up going with Doorman ones from Rockauto

Anyone have a decent contact at Ford?

Quite interested in the 2023 transit trail. I’ve retired my westfalia to strictly Vancouver island but would love another rig to camp and bike with.

what do you mean decent? Like someone who can get you an amazing deal, or just someone who can deal by email and doesn't lie?
Not sure the fomer exists, but I can do a referral for my guy at Cam Clark Airdrie, who is the latter. PM me you real name, cell number and personal email and I"ll do the referral for you. kickback of $500 to you if you when you take delivery as well.

I have to say one thing about the F150 I had versus the new Silverado 1500 I have now is that the Silverado is waaaay more planted when driving on absolutely icy shit roads and much better traction under acceleration from a stop when slick. It was a phenomenon I noticed too going from pre-2015 F150 models to the F-150 2017 when I bought it new, and is something that was mentioned by many F150 owners I have dealt with once the 2015 model came out and after. I am attributing it to the massive weight difference in the aluminum body trucks versus steel. Lighter is not always better I think...

Is the rear axle weight that different? I can dig up the cat scale ticket for my 2020 F150. If anyone has one for a Silverado that's be fascinating.

Overall, F150 vs GM 1500, I prefer everything about the handling dynamics and ride of the GM brothers over the Ford.

As for forward traction when its slick out, my F150 had an electric mechanical locker, but I had to lock it in. Fantastic when I knew in advance the situation I was going into (muddy acreage as an example).

GMs on the other hand have what is known as a G80, which is a locker style diff that engages when wheel speed differential is noticed at low speed. It is all mechanical. So if you are not driving around in auto 4wd, the GMs have full 2wd while the Ford has 1wd on ice and snow.

As for weights, the GM trucks are almost 1000lbs heavier (dpending on model). Definitely makes a bit of difference.

I find f150 better then my last truck, but we should do a comparison drive.

Not quite sure if it's an apples-to-apples comparison but it's close; my '16 F150 on DM-V2s versus '22 [gasp] ram 1500 on DM-V2s, the ram has felt more sure footed. I'd attributed it to newer winter tires, which I'm sure has an effect, but the commentary on diffs makes sense.

I'd be shocked if the weight on the rear of the truck was all that different.

I also think I'm enjoying the auto 4wd more on the ram. the IWEs in the ford, when 4wd engaged, you really noticed it...
