I did a round-trip from calgary to Sicamous and back on one tank when I had that 136L in my 2012. Big tank always wins.

Yep. Did osoyoos to Edmonton on a tank.
I went YYC to Penticton on less than half a tank. When I got there my DTE which is about 5-10% off was still 850km.
Either tank lasts longer than my bladder. So really doesn't matter as I'm stopping anyways.
I have the 100L in my 2011 Ecoboost. I've done Oliver to YYC on one tank easy, but usually fill up anyways since I'm stopping...

Even with my shitty 5.4 in my 2010, I can do Edmonton - return in 1 tank. 136L FTW!
That's from my house to the Westin downtown and back the next day.

It's definitely convenient, especially on long drives.
It'll be nice just going straight home from out of town instead of having to stop for fuel then next thing you know it'll be an hour stop because might as well eat there too.
yup, and I have found that the trip computer in our trucks to be fairly accurate too. I think it takes into account your driving habits and such as well, so when I fill up my tanks, if i run a quick calculation, the most variance I have had was 0.15l per 100k, which is pretty decent to me.Originally posted by chongkee_

Having said that, when I fill my tank up, my trip computer will say I have 999km to empty for about 55kms before it starts ticking down, and I usually get right around the 1000kms per tank, depending on how much I idle it.

Turbos cost money

Not eco boost related but f-150 related, I recently bought an 06 f-150 and had advantage give it a one over while getting an oil change and they found that the front and rear pinion seals are leaking, along with both front axle seals leaking as well. Parts are cheap since it's just seals but the labour is a good amount and understandably so for what's required to get at the seals to replace them.
Just wondering if I roll with getting the dealership to do the work or if there's anyone or any shops in town that might be cheaper on the labour side that you guys would recommend.
Thanks
non dealership shops are usually cheaper labour. Dealership staff should be quicker as they will be more familiar and likely will give you a better warranty.
Have previously recommended "Our Mechanic" and would do so again.

^ Thanks, booked in with them.
Well - my 'problem free' 2011 F150 just developed a Timing chain rattle on cold start. Related to timing chain stretch.
I have ~95,000 kms. Ford has issued a TSB related to it and states it is covered under the 'emissions warranty'. Is there such a thing, and if so anyone remember what the coverage is? Saw references to both 5 and 7 years online. Otherwise this will be expensive....

Which for me unfortunately expired in September 2016.
So, I'm facing a $3800 repair out of pocket.
They've had the truck for 5 days. Oh well....
Repair it, and keep it another 100k, or repair and ditch it?

Now what? For the record it looks like those are 'revised' part numbers from the 2014 model. So does it happen again? 93600 kms on the truck.
wait, so the cam phasers are an issue not only in the 5.4 but also the early ecoboost?

Ask rickdatuner but yes.
Most people say it's because of the fuel dilation issue and the importance of maintaining a very frequent oil change routine.
Just like with the 5.4 likely worse in cold climates. Also make sure you plug in below -15
Sounds like the same issue COS had on his military grade ecoboost before he ditched it.
That's where I'm at. Love the truck, but worth keeping?Originally posted by redblack

Ford assures me they are revised part numbers. Hmmm.
I believe the parts were revised in 2015, as this issue even plagued the new 15th gensOriginally posted by CLiVE
