I have a set of Blizzak DMV2 on my F150. Seem to be good so far but haven't had much weather to really push the limits yet.
I think on a truck just with how there is not much weight on the back, you need a dedicated winter tire in Alberta

My vote will always be dedicated winters. If you're absolutely sold on an all-weather tire, I'd probably opt for something really boring like a Michelin LTX.

You will definitely get some recommendations for A/T tires like the BFG T/A KO2. I found my set of those to be like hockey pucks on ice, but I was running load range E on a Tacoma, so definitely not ideal application.

K02's are definitely not great in the winter. I still drive them all winter, but they are bad. It doesn't help most people run them fairly wide, mine are only 295's and I struggle in piled up snow, having to diff lock lots to get through my close

Winter shoes added to the F150. Found a set of mounted duratracs on wheels that had never been used. Stock size with a bit more offset. Studded them myself for bc winter travels. ironically, they're quieter (with studs) than the BFG M/T's i had on there for the other three season lol.
Big believer of having dedicated winters - currently all our vehicles have studded winters on them.

This does not compute.. Yes they're prob winter tires now that studded, but Duratracs are 100% not winter tires (and are horrendous on ice, will be curious how they perform with studs)

Studded Duratracs certainly aren’t the worst thing for winter. Probably my choice of winter all terrain.

Can't believe how easy it was to change the oil on the 3v Triton...I've been paying $100 at Jiffy lube or whatever for the last couple changes. Flat floor, no jack and I had it done in 18 mins 37 seconds.

I've had these... the number of studs are too few to be useful considering the torque and relatively light truck weight bias

When I ran even the Cooper AT3 W (or was calle AT/4)... I still needed to run 4x4 in conditions now where I can get away in RWD with Nokian Hakka R3s

to add... the compound plays such a role regardless of the tread depth and design (siping)... however with that said, my Hakka R3s are unfortunately only 11/32 when new, which really serves as an idea on-road tire.

If I were looking for an off-road tire that provides good on-road winter capabilities, I would say that the most impressive one I've seen/used on my friend's 08' Jeep w/ a 4.7 and quadratrac is the Sailsun Icetrail WST2.. we went through some really deep (past door jam) of packed in snow without problems.

Waay cheaper than most alternative A/T tires, yet has almost the same offroad capabilties with much better on-road Winter manners.

I ran Duratracs driving to rigs for about 5 years and they were pretty great even on fucked up lease roads.

I’ll be honest. I normally run studded Hakkas (they’re on three of our vehicles right now) but I decided to try studded duratracs based on recommendations from our field guys /operators as well. I probably won’t be winning any winter autox’s with them and as some one mentioned above, the number of studs is lower than my Hakkas but I got a good deal on the set.

I ran c rating duratracs through 3 winters on my wrangler and my sierra and they didn’t really leave me wanting for anything. Not perfect but never truly bad.

Closest thing to “all weather” as I have ever experienced for Calgary.

decided to go with a michelin x-ice 265/70/r17 w/ crappy tire trail boss 17x8 rims. Will update with pics once everything comes in. Should be miles better on snow/ice than the OEM 18" wrangler territory AT.

I will note this... though with my Nokian R3s I've never had better traction on my truck for slick-on-road conditions, the C ply "recommended" load raing is far less puncture resistant.

I ran studded dura-tracs in e-ply and had to use my 4x4 switch far more liberially, especially when driving on the 93 in slick conditions. However I NEVER had a flat, and these tires were substantively better in deep snow conditions whenever I had to use it on fire roads.

IF I were to drive in deep snow, needed puncture resistance, and had reasonable on-road mannerism in the winter... I don't disagree that studded duratracs are great tires, as would be the Nokian AT plus

There is no way I would put just straight winter tires on a 3/4 truck that see's lease roads 50+% of the time
