Truck of the year is a competition of who buys the most pages of advertising. Even for a fanboy like me it's meaningless.

the biggest issue that i can foresee with the diesel is that the payload will suffer from the heavier engine which will limit what you can carry anyway. even if the diesel is capable of towing more, the chassis is basically maxed out for payload (imo). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Agreed, but was commenting on the availability of the diesel - I think Spikers asked when it was comingThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Until Ford confirms its all conjecture but I was sure spring 2018 was the rumour.

What's the attraction of diesel?
It costs more initially, costs more to run with super long pay back period. Costs more to service. Stinky.

IMO the value prop is durability, economy and towing capabilitiesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
with the RAM ecodiesel you only get one of the 3 benefits... I believe these highly boosted small engines all suffer from condensation issues, but certain manufacturers have been cleaver enough in finding ways to drain the IC (i.e. Volvo)
If towing is comparable with the 5.0 (i.e. >8500lbs), and durable... I would go down that route even if efficiency was moderately better than my ecoboost cause I heart rolling coal
Basically...if you have to ask, you don't need a diesel! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Well, I fully understand Diesel on small cars and HD trucks. I don't get it for half tonne trucks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If they put in a v8 diesel in the F150 with about 600lbft that got 30mpg, then I would get it.

Towing economy, while still having a nice ride quality... HD trucks ride like shit
Motor Trend awards carry the same weight as a square of toilet paper before you wipe your ass with it. They are purely an award that the highest bidder can pay for. If you want to put some weight behind an award, I think the best one out there would be from Consumer Reports. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I re-read the article - Ford will put a diesel under the F-150’s hood this coming summer and will offer a hybrid by 2020.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I stand corrected on the diesel date.
So spring summer. Boom, confirmed. I'm personally expecting it to be limited availability and zero discounts for the first six months.

where do you guys go for oil changes besides the dealer?
I've been looking at one, haven't had a chance to drive the new ones yet. Priced it all out online but wanted to get feedback on the 18s. Is it worth the extra 20k to go up the trim level?
supercab was what I was looking at but supercrew with a 5.5 box might be better?
Platinum = ~70k
Raptor/Limited = ~90k
thoughts? opinions?
looking at resale, always get the supercrew. the amount of people looking to buy a regular or extended cab are pretty small.
I thought about going to to a Lariat from an XLT, and I don't think there is a whole lot of justification, i would rather pocket the difference.
As for a Raptor, they are sweet AF, and look awesome, but, for their intended purpose, they really are not suited for around here as it is designed as a desert race truck. If you want a special edition truck that is more suited to our geographic area, I would be looking at the Ram Powerwagon.

Agreed, I have a SCab and no one with a family would want that. But I wanted the bigger bed (and no one seems to buy the SCrew with anything but the small box)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The short box Screw is already a bitch to park or turn around. That extra foot of wheelbase makes it worse. I’ve only had a handful of occasions where I wished I’d had the long box.
